"Great job, from start to finish. Tim, our consultant, was very helpful... never pushy, but offered many suggestions/ideas. Scott, our installer, seemed to work nonstop on the projects, tearing down enclosure to the base, and rebuilding step by step. Scott was efficient, using tarps and covers on nearby shelves, and cleaned up when work was done. Each project took 2 days."

"I had a very positive experience with Johns Plumbing. Same day service on a difficult repair job involving old plumbing. Aaron and John arrived on time, were courteous and thorough, and made sure they had the right tools and parts to do the job properly. They stayed till 6:00 PM to finish the job. I would highly recommend this company to homeowners."

"It went great! Outdoor faucet was from 1959. Other plumbers had said faucet would have to be torn out of stone wall to be replaced because the part needed was no longer available. It would have been a major ordeal! David found the outdated part on the computer & ordered. Fixed it perfectly! No mess. We couldn’t have been more pleased because it is used often!!!"

"The 2 workers that did the work were great. They called while they were on their way, since I had to leave work to meet them there, and were quick and efficient upon arrival. One worker quickly unloaded and got the new unit set up while the other disconnected and drained the old unit. As they pulled the old unit out, they ran into a large issue with ants under the old water heater. I felt really bad that they encountered them (even getting on their hands and legs, but they handled it really well. The ants had eaten their way through the old hot water heater's exterior and into the insulation. They sprayed the ants, and laid down some 6 mil black plastic that I'd had out to cover the crawlspace dirt where the new unit was going. I'd gotten some concrete blocks and a plastic drip pan to provide some extra protection to the new unit that the guys did not mind working with and installing for me as well. Highly recommend! The scheduling was easy, the service professional and quality of the materials and install very high."

"This appointment was the free maintenance checkup following the installation in June 2014.  Scott H was my Service Technician.  He was very professional, arriving on time; explaining what he will check during this appointment; explaining his findings; making sure I scheduled my next maintenance checkup, also, making sure I had signed up for the Maintenance Agreement. Additionally, Scott H connected me to Christie in the Alpine Office to make sure they knew that I am an Angie's List member. He was very pleasant and comforting to talk to making sure I understood my system. He also made sure he covered his shoes when entering my home. I give Alpine an "A" rating."

"We have a well and the water pressure had been slowly dropping and had reached a critical point. My worst fear was that we'd pay to have a lot of work done and still not find the source of the problem. Don Potts came out first thing in the morning with another plumber, and he was able to talk me through the diagnosis and options. They not only found the problems, but they had them fixed by mid-afternoon, and cleaned up the area."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Westfield, NC

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
