Customers say: Quick response

"Our driveway is around a 1/4 mile long and winds its way through a beautiful woodland area. We searched for a paving contractor with an excellent reputation and after receiving several estimates we selected O. Cooper. We were unable to physically be onsite to go over the project but that didn't matter as Billy suggested we meet via FaceTime. He arrived at the property on time, and we were able to walk the project virtually discussing our vision and expectations. He promptly provided us with a very detailed estimate of the work to be performed along with a price quote. Once onsite we were impressed with the obvious preparation, coordination, and execution of the project. We are so pleased with the way the driveway turned out and are grateful to O. Cooper for doing such a professional job. We can't say enough. I would recommend O. Cooper Asphalt Paving without any hesitation. Oh, one last thing the scheduler was awesome too!"

"The grading took a full day given the extensive size of the driveway. Then, unfortunately rain set in for the next couple of weeks prevent the asphalt from being laid. Rudy checked in almost daily to see how the conditions were. Once the weather cleared, the drive was paved and looks fantastic."

"We have a spring that goes under our drive way so we have to wait until it was extremely dry to have it done. We had to change the date but it wasn't because they didn't try to come. It was because of unforeseen circumstances This is the first time we've had an asphalt driveway and this is the first time we're getting it sealed. The people before that lived here never took care of that. the company was very good they made sure everything was aligned they did a good job they are going to come back Thursday because once it was dry there was a couple of spots that need some additional work done. They did give us a discount for using them from Angie's list. We had those couple of spots that need to be touched up but they are more than happy to come out and make us happy. They were very accommodating. Since we had that problem, they are trying to make sure that everything is dry so that they can do a good job. They came out a couple of time but weren't able to do the job. They are in Richmond and we are north of Richmond by about 20 miles It wasn't easy for them to always come out here but they did they were very responsible. If we had questions they always got back to us. If they weather changed they would call and let us know that they weren't going to come out. I think they are a good company."

"I saw a sign in a driveway of a colleague and my wife and I were very impressed with the work.   I called back in June of 2015 and worked with Michael from Worden and Sons Paving and he gave me the quote, however we made a decision to not go with it due to a financial emergency that did not allow us to invest in the work.   March of 2016 I was looking through e-mails and found the quote and when I called about if they would honor the quote from 9 months earlier he said absolutely!!  Not only did he honor the quote he scheduled and within 2 weeks of inquiring we had our BEAUTIFUL new DRIVEWAY in place.   What I love the most is this is a family business and Michael was very proud of the fact that the people who are working with him worked with his grandfather.   Loyalty, Responsiveness, Quality and Efficient Work.    I feel we received the full value from the work provided. <br />"

"Brick repointing went well and looks great. The drainage was also done and looks great. I did have to have them fix a drain pipe. They installed a perforated pipe which just left the drainage water stay where the problem was. They returned and installed a solid pipe. It solved my water seepage problem."

"<p>We recently had Reid Constructors, LLC complete the installation of a concrete walk way at our home here in Williamsburg. Simply stated Dennis Reid did an exceptional job. The walk way is perfect in appearance. The preparation prior to, and after pouring was exceptional.</p> <p> Additionally the concrete mix used was of a very high quality. There was no damage to any existing shrubs or lighting. Very professional and do not expect Dennis to arrive in a BMW....</p> <br />"

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Williamsburg, VA

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
