"I put in two requests-for-quote on Tuesday 15 January. Within hours, Mr. Handyman of Richmond responded to my requests--and to this date the other two have not. The description by the telephone receptionist impressed me from the beginning: one company, not a contractor with subcontractors, recognizable to any homeowner and recognized in the industry. I accepted the quote, because frankly I was in a hurry to get the job done. The technician did the first job within hours. This included driving out to buy new doorknobs and deadbolts, plus a key-lockable and re-key-able front-door latch and deadbolt set. At the end of the job I had doorknobs that would stay on without coming off in my hand (as the originals did--twice), and four doors all on the same key. I also had a new deadbolt on the garage door and a front door that I could double lock. While he was here I asked him to see to a seam that had opened in some drywall, and remounting a toilet paper dispenser in a bathroom. The second job he finished in about five minutes; the first he agreed to come back for. On the second day he called his office to have them call me--this because I was too far away to hear him knock. So when I let him in, I suggested now would be a good time to install a wireless door chime and ringer set, and to repair a front-porch fixture I had never been able to unscrew. Note: I suggested these extra jobs; he did not push them on me. Except for my having to make two trips to a nearby hardware store to buy some batteries, he did all the work in record time. And because one of these jobs required letting some drywall mud dry before sanding, he was able to complete all these jobs at very little extra charge--because his company charges by the man-hour and materials, whatever the job happens to be. By using his time effectively and efficiently, I saved. The results are everything I could ask for, and getting all these jobs done is a special boon, particularly since I'm planning a long road trip. If I run across any other little thing that needs doing, I'll definitely call Mr. Handyman of Richmond first. I would recommend them without reservation to anyone having a little project."

"Josh and Eddy arrived on time (actually a week early as they had an unexpected opening in their schedule). They looked at the safety bar and hand grip bar that I had purchased and examined the shower/tub space. We discussed what the position (height and slant) of where the bars should be. Once that was determined, the ceramic tiles were measured and marked. Placement was rechecked. The holes were drilled. During drilling a small vacuum was used to gather the dust and debris from the ceramic tiles. My tiles were not chipped or cracked. The bars were screwed into the wall and the area was rechecked for any needed clean up. An Angie's List discount was applied to my bill. On the way out, they stopped and readjusted a slanted pot light in my kitchen and a cabinet door which was scrapping the ceiling whenever it was opened. All of this was done within 30 minutes. Josh and Eddy were respectful of my home, paid great attention to details, and were very pleasant to talk with. I will rely on Yorktown's Handyman to complete any needed home repairs and improvements."

"Wilson Delgado's repair and restoration of our wooden kitchen table and chairs was outstanding. It had scratches and stains and it is now perfect! It looks better than when we originally bought it. He added a beautiful finish to the table so that it shines. And he is simply the nicest, most customer oriented, honest person. His quote was so reasonable and he did the whole job within 2 weeks! "Their gutter guy put some gutters on my house and I was not impressed with that so far. Three of them already topped off. They didn't do that great of a job. When I did have a leak in the house, I had to call them like four or five times to get them to come over to repair it and finally, it just got to the point where I just said to heck with it and I decided to get somebody else to do it. Their guy never called me. I waited for him all day. They did a beautiful job on the roof. I was impressed with that but if anything goes wrong, they weren't so good. They did an excellent job doing the house. They cleaned up but I didn't think it was that great because I ended up with three flat tires from nails. Other than that, they were very courteous and everything else. They did fine. I was happy with it. They did show up with the wrong shingles and started putting them on and thank God I was there that day and stopped it. I'd recommend them to somebody else with the portion that once they're done, it may take you a while to get them back to repair anything. They were pretty good on their prices."

"The technician reported no current infestation of termites, although there was evidence of previous termite activity. I confirmed that there had been termites but was treated by the previous owner before selling the house.
The tech also measure the space to determine moisture content and found that overall the percentage was in normal limits there was a higher level underneath the bathroom. Later after I inspected the bathroom, I detected a leak coming from the pipe elbow at the top where the shower head connects. Fortunately, I was able to repair the leak before substantial damage had occurred.
Overall the service was great, the technician was pleasant and knowledgeable and possibly saved me a lot of money for expensive water damage in the bathroom floor.

"2 gentleman from Walls Construction and Handyman came out and cleaned gutters thoroughly. While there they did free roof inspection and found that 2 roof boots were cracked. They notified me and I told them to go ahead and repair them. They are one of the most outstanding companies I have ever had come out and do work on my house. Greg Maratto was very polite, experienced and just an over all joy. The office staff was also very polite and professional. I would definitely recommend using this company for any of your construction/handyman needs.
