"John was very accommodating and understood exactly what we needed. He was prompt, courteous, and kept me informed throughout the process, as the work was done for my mother while I wasn't there. My mom was very pleased with her ceiling fan light fixture installation and the price was very reasonable. I would definitely call him again for any other job I need done. Thanks again John!"

"Came to my house the same day and completed the job. Mike the electrician was a nice guy and did a good job. $200 the first hour and $100 each additional hour. Changed existing ceiling fan, switches and outlets. I already had the parts, took 3+ hours, cost almost $500 with tax. Not sure if this is standard. I called them after another electrician who was supposed to come that day canceled."

Customers say: True professional

"First let me say that Ali was very respectful of my time and home. He let me know when he was 30 minutes away and let me know early that he would be a little late. I had Ali upgrade my electrical panel. He explained the entire process to me and let me know of future work that would be necessary, which included a need to rewire the entire house. Although he gave me recommendations, I never felt like he was scaring me or forcing me into hiring him to do this current job or future jobs. He was easy to worth with and gave me many payment options. Ali seemed very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend Ali and will definitely consider using him again for my future projects."

"Mike from No shorts electric was very prompt. He carefully inspected the entire electric panel and said that the source of the odor was something other than electrical. He was very methodical and courteous. He did not charge anything, even for a service call or for his time/travel. That was so pleasantly surprising. WIll gladly use him again and highly recommend him to others."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Williston Park, NY

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
