"GREAT! Joe was easy to work with, very skilled and knowledgeable, and very reasonable. The work he did was top notch (fast, he cleaned up, wore a mask, etc) and he even spotted some extra work that needed to be done for safety reasons (fixing a wire outside the house). We've hired him before and absolutely will again for anything electrical."

"I hired Mike to rewire and replace the outlets in my home as well as install brand new lighting, outlets and switches in the finished attic. His workmanship is nothing short of exceptional. It's plain to see that Mike is a professional who cares about his work, and more importantly his clients. His pricing is also very competitive. No need to worry about mile-long contracts and being charged hourly on top of exorbitant fees etc. If you are looking for any kind of electrical work to be done in your home, I highly recommend you give Mike a call or text. I guarantee your experience will be as good as mine was!"

"Carmen came right away when called, I wanted my electrical service to be upgraded to 200Amps. He was very professional, and the work came out phenomenal. I called him a week later to put in a Tesla charger station. I couldnâ  t be more happy with the outcome. HIGHLY recommended."

From the moment I contacted him for an estimate, I was impressed by their professionalism and promptness. They arrived on time, fully equipped, and ready to tackle the job. They explained everything clearly, answered all my questions, and offered valuable advice on how to improve the safety and efficiency of my electrical systems. The quality of work was exceptional – they completed the job efficiently and left the work area clean and tidy. I also appreciated their transparency regarding costs, with no hidden fees or surprises. I highly recommend JB Electrical to anyone in need of electrical services. "Ryan did a great job in my upgrade from a 100 to 200amp panel! Great communication, very responsive, on time, minimal destruction (which was impressive given all the wires he had to put behind my drywall) and kept things clean. Before giving me a quote he took time to walk me through the entire job and explain how it would have to work. I really appreciate this extra step to help the customer understand the complexity and design and ultimately the costs. Throughout the project he gave me clear progress updates. He even helped with a problem I was having with an appliance which was unrelated (we now know) to my electrical work. He went above and beyond!"

"We hired Chris to help prepare our kitchen for an electric range, which required a new high-voltage outlet connected to the electrical panel in the basement. He was responsive, clear, and gave a transparent estimate immediately. On the day of the job, he was punctual and thorough, and completed the task before the estimated timeframe with high quality work and clear explanations. He also fit in time to move an outlet for a dishwasher, which we had not previously know we would need, and kept the final total close to the original estimate including the new project. We would certainly use Chris again for electrician needs at our home, and appreciate his expertise."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Wilmington, MA

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
