"Andrew's service was nothing short of superb. From the moment he arrived to the time he left, his professionalism was evident. His attention to cleanliness during the inspection was greatly appreciated, and his thoroughness in examining every aspect of our new home provided us with invaluable peace of mind. Andrew's ability to explain technical details in simpler terms was a game-changer, ensuring we fully understood all the findings. He worked collaboratively with us and our realtor, playing a crucial role in negotiations to ensure our home was in the best shape possible. What truly stood out was Andrew's dedication; he even returned for a complimentary follow-up inspection after the sellers addressed the issues he had identified. This level of commitment and care is rare and deeply appreciated. We have now been in our home for a year and have enjoyed a trouble-free living experience, thanks to Andrew's thoroughness and invaluable advice."

"Been Living here in Fort Collins for 5 years now and Brandon Strong from Strong Heating and Cooling is quite simply, hands down, the best repair/serviceman I've EVER had!!! While his work on our furnace was excellent, it was his ability to handle some curve balls, which he hit out of the park by GOING ABOVE and BEYOND what most service/repair men would have. He saved us well over $500 on the repairs AND never EVER tried to upsell us. He was very prompt on his visits and was always just a real nice guy! I don't recommend a lot and have NEVER written a review before, but I can't recommend Brandon enough, you will NOT be disappointed!!"

"Mike & This Efficient House have done several jobs for us in the past. Most recently, they did radon mitigation & insulation work in our crawlspace plus in-wall cellulose fill insulation last December. Mike and his crew were punctual, got the job done very efficiently, and were very communicative through the entire process. We have much better peace-of-mind with the radon work done, and the house was much more comfortable through the rest of the winter with the new insulation. Previously they had performed an energy efficiency audit on the house, and managed the replacement of our old hot water heater and furnace with new high-efficiency units better sized for our small house. Good experiences in all cases, and we would definitely work with them again in the future. Highly recommended!"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Windsor, CO

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
