"We had a vision of the kind of pool we wanted and PJ made it happen. I gave PJ and a few other pool installers a call. PJ came to my home and listened to my requirements. I got a good vibe from him. He mentioned that he runs a family business. His niece Megan runs the office and his son Joe manages their pool service operations. I decided that PJ provided the best value and contracted with him. He helped to meet the Cook County Health and Building/Zoning permit requirements. A couple months later we have our dream pool. PJ worked with several teams to complete the numerous steps it takes to finish an inground pool installation project. Most of his teams have been working with PJ for over 20 years and I witnessed the experience first hand, as they meticulously measured and executed on each phase. PJ is hands on and directed the most important activities during the installation. PJ is personable, responsive and passionate about his work. As I had questions, he was always quick to reply. "I went to A Lamp & Fixture Shop today, hoping to a repair a lamp (a small countertop nightlight). I wanted to both get a professional’s advice on the safety of a questionable (to me) part of the cord and to replace the plug, which we had tried unsuccessfully to do ourselves. The helpful repairman explained exactly why we had encountered difficulty trying to do it ourselves, looked carefully and told me that the part of the cord we thought might be iffy was fine, and replaced the plug -- charging $15 for the repair. The whole walk-in exchange took around 10 minutes, which probably doesn't always happen at busier times of the day. But having the little lamp fixed on the spot saved me an hour of driving in city traffic to pick the lamp the later in the week! My first visit to this shop was to get a stained glass tensor desk lamp, an estate sale find, to work; I figured it would have to be rewired. I was told by the staff that this is not easy to do, given the structure of that type of tensor lamp -- and re-wiring would have cost me more than the lamp did. But the staff person, seeing my disappointment, made another suggestion: rather than rewire, consider putting a new "thumb switch" on the cord. Perfect solution! The lamp works (and looks) great -- and the cost was $25. Two repair visits – and good advice leading to two reasonable and successful outcomes. A Lamp & Fixture Shop is batting 1000 with me. If I could give an A+ grade, I sure would."

"I had three bids to replace my plaster and tile on my pool. After talking with the three companies, I was more comfortable going with Ryan and Platypus Pools, as he really knew what he was talking about. His crew came out in a timely fashion, got the job done very quickly and the pool looks great. I loved the attention to detail and Ryan made sure that the job was done perfectly, as he was on site during the renovation. Very happy with the result and will hire them for any pool repairs I need in the future."

Not having a general contractor in place, I needed someone that was easy to work with, and of course delivered quality work at the right price.  I purchased an Angie's List deal from TMCM for complete interior repainting, and prior to the paint job, I included them on 1 of 3 estimates I farmed out for extensive repairs to the interior walls (mostly plaster, some drywall) that were torn up from replacing the electrical system, and general old age (cracking) .  TMCM proposed a very fair price for the wall repairs, so I hired them as well for the additional work.

The end result was fantastic - I feel like I have a new house on the interior.  Plaster repair was top-notch, and the paint job was great too.  For all the little "things" (requests) that pop up in the course of an extensive renovation, TMCM was easy to work with and for all these reasons, I'll recommend them to anyone, and keep their number for future work.
