"The job could not have gone better. Ricardo is an honest, reliable and skilled contractor. From the beginning he was receptive to our plans but able to make sound, informed suggesttions. He did not upsell, and he gave a fair price. He provided a detailed contract at the start, and invoices arrived at the time of payment. His crew arrived on time and never missed a day. Work was excellent, and the site was cleaned daily. In a little over 2 weeks, Ricardo completed everything we had been trying to accomplish for the prior 2 years: patio, atrium, landscape, lightingirrigation. It was a pleasure to deal with Ricardo throughout the process, and now we enjoy the beautiful environment he created around our house."

"Jason and crew were very busy, but they squeezed in my small job on a Sunday! WHO works on SUNDAY if they don't have to? Answer: A businessman who is keen on growing his business and accommodating his customers. And, a fine job he did, turning a simple 4' by 4' concrete slab into a distinctive semi-artsy thing that is pleasing to my eye. Jim-dandy work you three."

"

When we started looking into getting a patio cover we got bids from three different companies.  We choose to go with PatioCrew.  Now we have a big beautiful insulated patio cover and we love it.  Warren and the crew were all really nice and polite to work with.  They specialize in patio covers and it shows.  They got the permit from the city for us and had no problem hooking up lights and fans under the cover.  The workmanship and quality is great, and we would highly recommend them to anyone!

"Today, Kris and one of his employees came to remedy my complaints.  He explained that he hired a tile layer (who did my job) through a general contractor who he often works with and offered to find the same limestone and have someone else replace the tiles that were gouged, chipped and not layer evenly at no additional cost.  The other alternative was to sand down the lip of the poorly placed tiles and grout.  I chose the later. In addition, they cleaned and grouted areas that they missed before.
Kris was eager to remedy the problems I identified and put me on his schedule to clean my limestone floors next year at no charge.  He is truly and gentleman, eager to do a good job for me, who had the misfortune of a couple of problem employees who no longer work with him."

"Gil (owner of GM Pacific Pro) came and inspected the roof, measured, then came in and we talked. He gave me the price which I thought was really a good price, and I got a good feeling from him (fair and trustworthy). He showed me shingle options and I picked out a first and second choice. He asked if I wanted to get the permit for the roof or said that he could do it. At first I was going to do it but changed my mind so he had a company he uses do it which cost $200 extra, but that was okay with me.
One thing I would say here is that I would have liked for him to show me his paperwork--contractor's license copy, insurance info, etc.--this is something I didn't ask to see from him, which I normally do when having work done, but I already had my mind set on his Big Deal offer. Later, when I thought about it, I think I would have felt more comfortable had he just presented the copies to me (and better-give me a copy to keep). I ended up checking everything on the California State Contractor Board's website though, and it all checked out--his license was in good standing, he was bonded for $15,000 and had Workman's Comp insurance for $1million--all clear. Also, his contract writing was a bit sparse--he needs to put more into the actual contract--name of manufacturer and brand of shingles, his company warranty--maybe refer to the Angie's List Big Deal--that everything in the Big Deal is to be considered part of the contract--and to spell out all the costs--deductions for this, additions for that, rather than just put one price. I have also asked him to send me a copy of the warranty info on the shingles that the manufacturer--Corning--offers, which he said he will do.
I decided to not have the first layer of shingles removed from my roof. My city okays this--you can have up to two layers. Since my house doesn't have much insulation, I thought this might help with heat/cold issues a bit. So the 30# paper and labor costs for removal of the first layer, which was part of the Big Deal, weren't part of this deal with me. Gil took off a little over $500 from the cost of the job, therefore. The Angie's List Big Deal was $4,999 for 1800 square feet of roof. My house is 1365 sq. ft. and my garage is 360 sq. ft., but I knew because of pitch, valleys and roof overhangs, that my sq. footage would be more than 1800. So with the $200 for the cost of the company he uses to pull the permit, the $92 for the permit, extra $ for new flashing around the chimney, the extra money for the roof being more than 1800 sq. ft. and the deduction of the $500+/-, the price came to just over $7,000, which I thought was great.
We set a date. The city inspector came out and did a pre-roofing inspection, and then on the agreed upon day, Gil and the guys delivering the shingles came. I moved my cars, they backed a truck with a conveyor belt into the driveway and started moving the new shingles onto the roof. This process was loud and my pets were a bit upset, but after about an hour, the shingles were up. Gil had already left. The delivery guys left, and then Claudio, the man who would do the actual work, got to work. The re-roofing involved shingles being nailed on top of the old shingles in a consistent, neat way, and the noise level was much reduced. Claudio worked so diligently and quickly that the job was done in less than three days--about a total of 22 hours! Claudio said he'd been roofing for 25 years--and I believe him! He really seemed to know what he was doing. He was quick, thorough, diligent, polite and neat. He cleaned up pretty thoroughly after each night of work. Some things couldn't be helped--part of things that would land in the dirt/garden area--but I have to say that I was really impressed with this man's work! I think the roof looks great, and will improve (lay flatter), according to Gil, as the sun warms the tar in the top layer of shingles and they "melt" over the bottom layer of shingles.
Only time will tell if this new roof will work for 30+ years, as did the old roof, but I have to say that I was impressed with Gil, impressed with Claudio, impressed with the price and that I am very happy with the job that was done and I would definitely recommend GM Pacific Pro Construction to my neighbors (and I did--to a lady walking by who stopped to inquire).

"Overall, I was very pleased with the professionalism, courteousness and services performed by Cielo Construction. They showed us the windows, took some measurements and gave us a very generous estimate. They were also very transparent with the steps involved and even took care of acquiring the permits necessary to begin work. I would use Cielo Construction again for any home project."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Yucca Valley, CA

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
