"Mike and RJ rebuilt a side porch on my historic home. This included steps, pouring footings, replacing rotten wood and doing all this while maintaining the structural integrity of the original roof over this little porch. Mike was upfront with me about best and worst case scenarios and built exactly the porch I wanted. It looks like it’s always been there (which can be hard with an older home!). His communication with me was excellent, he’s very quick to return phone calls and emails or text messages and as always, he’s reliable and punctual. We have hired this company for a number of jobs and will continue to do so because the work is always excellent and mike stands behind everything he builds and fixes."

"Rock Solid Builders removed the old decking and railing from an existing deck and installed Trex board, rails and lighting. The work was done in February in the middle of brutal winter weather. I was amazed that they were able to do the work in spite of all the snow and cold weather. Everything was very professionally done and the finished product was very polished. Their services are in high demand but it was well worth the wait to have them do the job."

"My wife and I couldn't be more happy with the completion of the basement! Shaunak and Paul, as a team, really are fair, extremely friendly and their team that is involved are all skilled and efficiently get the work done. Our basement took around 4-5 months for the entire process. Shaunak is the business man behind it while Paul and his team do the actual physical construction. What I liked about them is that they don't just come here to finish a job. They are very family oriented, trust worthy, kind, and provide great suggestions as to why or why not we should do something; whether or not they make money on it. The resources that Paul's team uses such as the wood floor guy, electrician, etc are also very knowledgeable and they complete their work as according to schedule. I can't wait to use them again for our future home project. Paul and Shaunak, I will surely be suggesting you to other family friends that need assistance in their home as you guys are outstanding!! Keep it up!!"

"The vendor came initially to give an estimate for a exterior repair and painting project. After discussing the issues we were having with some of our external cedar boards, he suggested that we wait on some of the work we were thinking of doing until next year. He offered some very helpful and insightful advice that several other vendors, including some A-rated Angie's List members, didn't including switching from solid stain to a wood-based paint in order to seal the boards and prevent subsequent freezing and thawing breakages that plagued some of the other boards that are beginning to crumble. <br /> After setting up a plan for next spring to comprehensively address the exterior, we set up a time for him to come out and repair a broken exhaust vent that was resulting in cold air blowing into the house. He came out just a few days later (and well before the weather turned cold) with a new vent and insulation to repair the problem both inside and out. <br /> Additionally, while he was here, he helped with a package that my wife was assembling. He's friendly and knows his stuff. I highly recommend him. <br />"

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in Antioch, IL

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
