"I returned a call from this handyman, and he showed up about an hour later. He assembled an office chair for me very quickly on my front porch. We both wore our face masks. We had a wonderful conversation about living in Oregon, family and other things. I felt very comfortable with him. I was impressed with his quickness following the instructions that were included. The price he charged was lower than expected. I will definitely contact him again in the future. Thank you."

"Erick and Clay did an excellent job, their attention to detail is most appreciated. We moved in 12 years ago and the house has seriously never looked this good! Erick's expertise shows not only in the paint job but in the way he prepped our house, he pressure washed, then took the time to thouroughly caulk and really get things looking seemless before painting. The end result is perfection. Thank you Erick!"

"Great work and great experience. The demo was done quickly and they worked around our cabinetry without any problem. I appreciated how clean the work areas were kept and that the project didn't spill over into other living areas. They removed our 1980's tile and replaced it with the tile of our choice. They provided helpful suggestions on color, style, and modern tends that made the kitchen look not only bigger, but custom. The tile work was prestine. Clean cuts and even throughout. My father who was in the construction business for 50 years gave it an "A"! I was very happy with the quality work and that the project finished on schedule and within budget. Extra bonus was the awesome customer service. I would definitely work with them again."

"Robert Pendrey and his team appeared on time, then thoroughly prepped the old surface. After removing the window screens, John even washed all the windows. He power washed our chimney and, for a nominal fee, even our sidewalks and patio! He and his team painted our home beautifully (two coats) and left everything spic and span. What a treat. His fee was $6,200 and we could not be more pleased with the job. Thanks, Robert."

"It was a busy time, and this was a small job so it was very hard to get someone over or even to get Ken to respond to me.. <br /> Finally, the painter, Pat, came over and did an excellent job--neat and perfect. <br /> The problem was that he forgot two outside window trims, and I could never get Ken to allow Pat to return and finish.  He just did not answer my calls and emails.  I probably should not have paid him until he did, but he seemed very friendly and professional. <br /> Thus, the work was excellent and fair, but it was left somewhat unfinished.  Maybe he was fitting us in, as he implied, and that was a favor.  But he should have responded to me.  BTW, he did not honor the Angie's List senior discount. <br />"

"Can't remember being so satisfied with a contractor. Cody Hash, owner of Sunridge, told me what time they'd arrive each day and what I could expect. The three men worked as a team and did excellent work. Painted two coats and used top quality primer where needed. Prep was excellent and respect was shown to my plants and home in general. Very comfortable having the men around. Sunridge was the absolute best choice for painting my home. They went above and beyond replacing weather stripping they cleaned up leaving no trace they had ever been here."

FAQs for deck, fence, patio or porch clean and seal projects in Ashland, OR

You should clean your deck before sealing it. Cleaning before refinishing is critical. If you don’t remove dirt and debris, you'll trap moisture in the wood, which prevents the new sealer from working correctly and can lead to costly repairs. Whether you need to sand, power wash, or sandblast depends on your deck's condition.

Sealing and staining your deck are essential maintenance methods that protect and beautify your outdoor space. Stain adds rich color and guards against fading, while sealant fortifies the wood against moisture and weather damage. Wood type, climate, deck age, and the degree of existing damage determine whether your deck benefits from one or both treatments. Using both options extends your deck’s durability and enhances its overall appearance.

Power washing and sealing your deck costs $500 to $1,700. This process combines the removal of stubborn dirt and debris with a protective seal that preserves the wood’s integrity. Effective cleaning eliminates harmful buildup, and a proper seal prevents moisture damage and wood decay, ensuring long-term durability and reducing future repair expenses.

Your deck must be sealed every one to three years to maintain its strength and appearance. Regular sealing is essential to protect the wood against moisture, mold, and harmful UV rays. A consistent sealing schedule prevents rapid deterioration and costly repairs. Inspections should be performed annually to determine if the protective layer remains intact, extending the life of your deck.

Leaving your deck untreated compromises its structural integrity and safety. An unprotected deck rots quickly due to moisture and environmental exposure, which means that neglecting sealing results in rapid decay and expensive replacement costs of $4,125 to $11,650. Sealing your deck is essential for maintaining its durability and protecting your home.

The sealant on your deck dries within a few hours and reaches full cure within 72 hours before regular use. It is essential to wait until the complete curing period to ensure the protective layer fully sets and resists weather and foot traffic. Proper drying guarantees that your deck is fully protected against moisture and environmental damage, ensuring lasting quality.
