"Patio Enclosures was fantastic, the subcontractors that came to do the job were not. However, Patio Enclosures sent two Field Supervisors over to spend and entire day addressing all of our concerns. Overall, their customer service is what made us happy with this project and we absolutely love our 3-season room!"

"... After studying their High Quality work on a friend's 2nd Story Sunroom and Dining Room... My Bride and I decided that we wanted this little company in Salem to build our Dream Room. Steve ( Southwest Sunroom Sales Manager ) was right on track; He reassured us that the Southwest Team could handle any contingency. And they did with Incredible Results ! Personable and friendly communication, and coordination, removed all the stress that comes with any challenging project - they actually made it fun. These are professional contractors and builders and a service team that deliver to Happy Customers. Some events: Pergula takedown, Deck removed, Fish pond moved and filled in, Electrical power updated to code, and power lead moved to other side of home... Then the really impressive Construction started on our 14x18-foot new "LIVING ROOM" There were No Inspection Issues, WOW. And believe me, the inspectors were here during All stages of the project (s), You get your money's worth plus = Southwest always builds safe, above, and beyond the code. i.e. you can literally drive a tank up on the subfloor and foundation. It Is BUILT ! I retired from the U.S Marines and have spent the last 26 years in Service and Installation work locally, and have been to "some" job sites and teamed up with lots of service people. What has impressed me most about the Southwest folks was how motivated and skilled the two guys that did most of the construction were... Troy and Key really excel in my book, and they obviously love the kind of challenging work they do. Come sun or rain , they were here early and motivated and ready with a plan to get 'er done. Communication and Status updates are very good top-down = Service Manager and VP (Kevin) Kept all of us in the loop informed... Even after the initial startup and walk around... to make sure each Builder, Contractor, and Customer is Happy and on the same sheet of music. Noteworthy: When the guys who are actually building your sunroom care enough to call and remind you "that if anything should go wrong this weekend [ because of an approaching tropical storm ] please just call us, we will be home all weekend." That is when you know Southwest has attracted some really Great Employees ! By the way, the new roof and guttering held back and dispersed an incredible amount of rain. The cleanup was always immaculate every day and at Completion = You almost can't tell they were even here and the Mud had been very high... Well, I lied just a little; There is this incredibly fine building attached to our little home. It is really more of a cathedral than a Sunroom ! This experience, and this addition, has been BY FAR ONE OF THE BEST THINGS WE HAVE EVER DONE. Pat and Theresa L 2018 Salem Virginia [ smile ]"

"I was a little nervous about ordering windows on the internet using measurements I'd taken myself, but I loved the design on the website so, initially I only ordered 2 windows to check the quality, my ability to measure accurately and the company's ability to build to my measurements. Jeff, the salesman I dealt with was attentive without being overwhelming and the first order was delivered in about 4 weeks. The windows were exactly what I was looking for and fitting them was a breeze. I followed up with another order for the remaining 13 windows in my porch and again, they arrived quickly, were of great quality, exactly to size and easy to fit. Looking forward to see how they last their first winter."

"Sales rep was very knowledgeable and professional.  We would have used this company to do the work but based on our budget cost exceeded what we wanted to spend for the project. <br />"

"The crew that was onsite during the renovation was great as well. They always kept the site clean and was respectful when asked questions about the process. They were also very knowledgeable about construction and codes to make the house very sound. The house is around eighty years old and with the work they have done I can see it being around another eighty or more. The office staff was always willing to help with any questions or concerns we had and would promptly respond if they could not answer right then. Working with Dollman Construction was one of the best choices we made. People do not even recognize the house now that it is complete they did such a great job."

"<p>Crockett Home Improvement just completed 100% renovation of both of my mid-70's vintage bathrooms, and I could not be happier with the results. Owner George Crockett listened carefully to my renovation plans and concerns at the start of this process, and he met with me several times to formulate proposals that would work for me personally. He was always available by phone or e-mail, usually replying within a couple of hours, even on weekends and at night. I know that George stands behind all of his company's work, and that he will immediately address any customer concerns.</p> <p>Contractors Earl Shortridge and Johnny Snook performed the work, so I knew that the outcome would be entirely satisfactory: they renovated both of my parents' bathrooms last year, and those projects exceeded all expectations. Prior to starting both projects, Earl spent most of a Saturday with us, shopping for fixtures, vanities, flooring, lighting, etc. His renovation skills and excellent taste made the selection process flow much more smoothly, and we knew that everything we chose would work perfectly. </p> <p>As for the work itself, I still can't believe that craftsmen can completely gut a 40 year-old bathroom, cut tile, hang drywall, etc., and manage to leave your house clean at the end of the day. Earl and Johnny always left my home neat and in good order- I was consistently pleasantly surprised to find my home immaculate when I came from work. They are skilled in all construction/renovation trades : plumbing, electrical, drywall, flooring, carpentry, you name it. Earl designed and built the vanity and medicine cabinet in one of my baths, and they are absolutely beautiful, in both design, appearance, and quality. Throughout the process, Earl and Johnny made excellent suggestions regarding design and construction, but they always listened very carefully to my suggestions and worked hard to make my plans come to fruition. Both bathrooms are now finished, and the quality of workmanship is outstanding. Every detail is perfect- and I am pretty darned picky. The baths are beautiful, and they fit perfectly with the overall character of my home. I would not change a single thing. And my house is so clean, you would never imagine that a major construction project just wrapped.</p> <p>I can't imagine taking on another home renovation project in the future without Crockett Home Improvement. George has made the process so pleasant and easy, and his commitment to customer satisfaction has been rock-solid. Earl and Johnny are excellent craftsmen and complete professionals- honest, reliable, trustworthy, punctual, and just plain nice. I'll miss having them in my home. I can't say enough good things about these gentleman- and I know that somewhere in my future, an amazing kitchen renovation is waiting to happen. </p> <p><br /></p> <br />"

"The process of scheduling was seamless - the lady I spoke with was great on the phone and found a date and time that suited my schedule. The guy that showed up to do the work was courteous and seemed knowledgeable. He pointed out a few things right away that he felt should be addressed, which was part of the "Package" I had purchased. The main goal was to get the leaves out of the gutters and make sure the downspouts were clear. I also wanted to make sure everything was sealed as we've had a leak in the roof previously. He started his work and I left to go back to work. He called me and suggested that I replace the gutters, but I explained that because of the fact that they were tied into other surrounding units (this is a townhome), it wasn't possible. He said that he would put together a report with photos and send it to me via email. A couple of days later, I noticed there were leaves still in the gutter on our shed. I know he got up on the shed because he installed flashing in that vicinity, but the leaves were left behind somehow. Made me concerned that he didn't actually clean the gutters up high. I emailed the lady I had worked with originally to schedule and then it honestly became less of a priority for me as I had so many other things going on. She never responded and I never received the report I was promised. However, less than 2 months after they were there, one of the downspouts came loose and fell off the house! Upon examination, it was clear that the whole downspout had been held on by a single "strap" of metal, which had worked its way loose. In my mind, this was something he would have pointed out to me, or even fixed - it would have taken him 10 minutes to fix it himself, I'm sure. I sent her a picture over the weekend and asked her to call me ASAP on Monday - she called me around noon and immediately started to explain that the issue was likely due to the high winds. I explained that I had checked it myself and it wasn't something the winds would have caused, that it was something they should have caught when they were there - one bracket isn't enough for a gutter that long. She was polite, but disagreed and offered to send someone over to fix it (at my expense I assume). It was clear I wasn't going to get anywhere with them and that they were going to go with the wind as a a reason for this happening. I get it - from a business perspective, I'm sure they get people trying to get something for nothing all the time. But, I truly felt like there were oversights with this entire encounter that shouldn't have happened. I'll fix it myself - I could have done all of this myself, but chose to hire someone due to the lack of time. Next time I'll just do it myself and save our money."

"Rebecca has been a wonderful asset to our busy family by providing excellent cleaning services for the past year. Our house has never looked better, and that is with 2 boys under the age of 4! She is very responsible and has never cancelled or not shown up. My floors sparkle and the house smells so clean after she comes. She is also very flexible in working around our busy schedule and willing to work with me on days that something comes up. Overall, I would never hesitate to use her again and again!"

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in Blacksburg, VA

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
