Patrick came and had to be a sleuth to try to determine the cause of the missing hot water. The tank was too small and not functioning, but the real problem was a crossed pipe somewhere in my 1890 house. He found the pipe location in the basement and put in a shut off valve, which gave most of the house hot water. He also put in a high quality 50 gallon tank, and repaired the leaking lead main. To completely fix the hot water, it will mean opening walls, so we left a small 1/2 bath sink and attic sink to be fixed at a later time (or not....).. This was all around Easter, but he put in long days to get it all done."

I am an educated consumer of home improvement services and have contracted for numerous projects over the past 10 years in a 100 year old bungalow. "Will preface by saying my knowledge of water heaters is pretty minimal.  Woke up one evening with the water alarm on the water heater going off - did some basic trouble shooting, turned the water off, and called John, who was able to give me some easy tips on the phone to keep the leaking to a minimum. 
Came out the next day, at the later end of a 2 hour window he gave me (but well within the window), was able to diagnose the problem quickly and fix it.  Gave some good advice, and a bit of basic education on water heaters. 
Price was a bit much for in the end about 15 mins of work, but in a pinch, he came through.
