"Zoom Drain was great !! Everything was explained by Rob on Friday when he came out. Service was provided the day we called due to hearing gurgleing in the kitchen sink when the toilet was flushed. Rob found a blockage in the drain box outside our house which he cleared. On Sunday we found that we were still having some brief water backup into our basement laundry tub when the bathroom toilet was flushed, Kyle came out that afternoon and determined that part of the issue was that the Municipal Sanitary Drain was running slow. Kyle even pulled the Municipal Manhole cover in the street to confirm that the water level was much higher than expected. He spent the time to make sure our drain was as clear as possible and even called our local borough office to inform them that the Municipal drain seemed to have a blockage. We saw a truck on our street this morning and were informed that a large grease plug was found in the municipal drain on the street next to ours. They cleared it on Sunday night and were checking the line upstream from where the plug was to make sure everything was clear. Thank You Kyle. Thank you Zoom Drain Norristown. Highly recommended !!"

"Our basement has always been damp and, at times wet when the existing drain system silted up. With this year's high amount of rainfall it needed something better. After some research on the trusty internet and interviews and quotes from 5 different contractors, Paradigm and one other company were the only ones who really seemed to know what they were about. Both quotes were about the same in cost and scope. I went with Paradigm over the other company primarily for the sense of personal responsibility I got from Andy and Ross. As the owners, they clearly take great care and pride in the work their company does from start to finish. The job involved excavation around the perimeter of the basement, including an attached crawlspace and peculiar raised section of the floor. French drains with all the trimmings, including silt filters were installed. The existing sump was improved, a second sump added, and new pumps installed in both wells. The walls were wirebrushed to clear away the efflorescence and mildew, then spray treated. Sump drains were linked to the outgoing sewer hookup (which was a problem, more on this later!). Work was completed in about 2.5 days exactly on schedule. There were two problems that came up, both resolved satisfactorily. Firstly, the drop cloths that did a superb job keeping the house dust-free on day 1 ended up releasing the accumulated dirt and fine silt into the air on days 2 and 3 as workmen walked across them, coating the ground floor with dust. They took extra care in cleaning both before and after day 3, but I didn't identify the source of the problem until late in the 3rd day of work. In the future, I would suggest cleaning, or at least beating dust out of the drop cloths after each day's work. The foreman was responsive and properly apologetic about the problem, and they did a fine job cleaning up as best they could at the end of the job. The second problem came to light a few days later, when I was talking with my neighbor. It turns out that sewer hookups for sump pump drainage were explicitly *not* allowed in our area of New Castle County. The patchwork of municipalities, neighborhoods, towns, and the City of Wilmington makes this a non-trivial question, as some places forbid these clear water hookups, some allow them, and some even encourage them! Paradigm had initially gotten incorrect information when they inquired, but confirmed that the hookup would have to be removed to pass code in our specific location. They returned to move the discharge lines, and ran them out to grade on the exterior of the house. This ended up causing another problem: a couple days later I started hearing a loud "glugging" noise coming from the discharge line on the rear pump, which was not draining properly. We had a battery backup pump on the old sump pump, which Paradigm was happy to re-install on the new pump. However, the check valve on that 5 year old, consumer grade backup had started to fail and could not support the much larger column of water in the retrofitted discharge plumbing. Andy and Ross came out twice more to fix this problem, once to figure out what was actually happening and a second time to remove the faulty pump, and to shorten and properly pitch the discharge pipe. I was impressed by the owners' responsiveness and professionalism in addressing these problems, and have confidence they will similarly resolve any issues, however unlikely, that may arise in the years and decades to come."

"I hired them to unclog a toilet. Got a next day appointment. Patrick was helpful and courteous in scheduling and quoting the job. Justin came early and asked questions to understand the problem and what I had already tried to clear the drain. Within 15 minutes he had the drain running. Good service at a good price. I would use them again."

"Had gurgling from 2 bathroom sinks. Not knowing if this was a concern, I reached out to Angie's List for quotes from plumbers. The first one to respond was ValDel Plumbing. They were able to schedule me in for the next day. Our plumber, Steve, arrived and diagnosed the problem - partially clogged sinks. He corrected the problem per the quote. While working on the sinks, he noted that the drain pipes connected to the p-trap should be modified (he did this at no extra cost). After the job was completed, I had a question about my sump pump. He offered to look at it and gave some recommendations. Overall, I felt that the job was corrected to my satisfaction. The work done by Steve was both personable and professional. If I had future plumbing needs, I would strongly consider ValDel Plumbing."

"TL;DR My plumbing problems were taken care of quickly, effectively, and with minimal trouble. The technicians were prepared for the job tasks and for unforeseen hindrances that occurred during the repairs. The technicians also took the time to educate me on the available options to various plumbing problems and possible upgrades to improve my antiquated drainage system. I would definitely recommend ValDel plumbing for plumbing repairs and plan on using them for my next project(s). TECHNICIANS: Steve Harris Chris Klein Journeyman whose name Iâ ve unfortunately forgotten. PROMPTNESS/SPEED: At every appointment the assigned technicians were usually a few minutes early, and were prepared to dive straight into the tasks assigned. Each task was completed quickly and (with exception of a little equipment failure) no hiccups. The journeyman managed to clear the bathroom sink clog and Chris the main drain line clog with a speed and efficiency that made the process seem like childâ s play. EXTRA SKILL SETS: Some of the piping was hidden behind walls, which necessitated cutting or knocking down the drywall. Steve, who had previous carpentry experience, managed to make cuts with such surgical precision that the necessary repairs to the drywall should be both inexpensive and simple. FORESIGHT AND FLEXIBILITY: In the course of planning all of the jobs I needed done, several back-up plans were presented, just in case the attempt of one plan either failed and required a different method of repair, or if the attempt simply caused damage elsewhere necessitating more repairs on top of a single planned course of action. These plans were all presented up front, so there were no unwelcome surprises waiting for me. Prior to needing to have repairs made to my homeâ s plumbing system, I knew little about how the system was configured. While mapping out the plumbing (after Iâ d already requested service) I discovered that removing some of the plumbing Iâ d requested would not only put me outside of the plumbing code regulations but possibly produce a drainage problem. I notified ValDel of the issue. To my (pleasant) surprise, Steve already had a plan in place to remove the plumbing Iâ d requested while remaining code compliant, and ensuring proper drainage. During the course of one of the repairs, a piece of equipment had an unfortunate failure that rendered the equipment unusable. The Journeyman had a back-up piece of equipment on sight and running in a matter of minutes. CLEANLINESS: The entire crew cleaned up after themselves and hauled off any pieces of old piping, drywall, PVC shavings, and clog material."

FAQs for drain clog or blockage clearing projects in Conshohocken, PA

Snaking a simple clog near a tub, toilet, or sink often takes about five minutes. Deeper blockages along the main line can stretch the job to a few hours because the pro must feed extra cable and may need a camera to confirm the pipe is clear. Either way, specialized tools help pros work quickly and keep your drains running for the long haul.

Aggressive snaking can scratch pipes, push debris deeper, or even crack older lines. That risk is low with an experienced plumber who matches the cable size to the pipe and eases the snake through bends instead of forcing it. If you’re unsure of your technique—or your pipes are already fragile—calling a licensed pro is the safest, and often cheapest, move.

Start with simple barriers: mesh screens on every tub, shower, and sink keep hair, food bits, and jewelry out of the pipes. Skip harsh chemicals; a monthly flush with hot (not boiling) water clears light buildup without damaging plastic lines. Finally, practice smart disposal—no grease, wipes, or kitty litter down the drain—and schedule routine cleanings if you have older plumbing.

Roto‑Rooter typically charges a flat $160 to $450 for standard snaking, which may include a quick sewer inspection and basic clean‑out. Exact pricing depends on the clog’s location and complexity. Repairs or part replacements fall outside that flat fee, so ask for a line‑item estimate if your tech spots broken pipe sections or recommends additional work.

Most liquid cleaners rely on caustic chemicals that eat through hair and grime—but they also erode metal and even some plastics over time. Repeated use strips protective pipe coatings and can leave you with leaks or premature failures. If hot water or a plunger doesn’t help, call a plumber for mechanical removal instead of pouring more chemicals down the line.
