"Paradigm Home Solutions hit a home run in every respect. Complete waterproofing of a wet 600SF basement with French drains and two new pits with sump pumps. Since then the basement has been completely dry. This was part of a whole house remodel: structural, electric, plumbing, gas, etc. Paradigm stands out as the best contractor we dealt with through this entire project. Bob and Andy answer their phones without fail, their crew showed up on the scheduled days, worked hard (real hard) for 2 days straight in the July heat, and made no shortcuts or excuses. When we had a couple of simple questions a few weeks later Bob picked up the phone immediately. I wish all contractors demonstrated this sort of quality, commitment and communication."

"I had a wall in my basement that was filing up with water from runoff outside. The wall started leaking into my basement. The crew jackhammered a trench along the wall in my basement and installed a drainage pipe, fill and a sump pump. They cemented over the trench and it looks like they were never here. Lots of rain since then and my basement is dry. Timely and professional- highly recommend"

"The task was to replace two 45 year old shower valves and install a backsplash panel to cover and waterproof holes where the old valves were. They showed up on time for both the bid appointment and job appointment. They did an excellent job and less time and for WAY less money than I would have thought possible. I have more bathrooms and more plumbing jobs in my 45 year old house and will be sure to give them a call. Or I would recommend them to any of my friends/neighbors unequivocally!"

"The overall service and experience were fine. The only minor issue I had was the company providing the contact info of the service tech coming to provide service. I often do not respond to unknown names or numbers. In fact, the first two times the tech called I did not answer because a strange company name came up not Zoom. The other thing was pricking I felt they were high almost $280 to clear my drain using a snake. The tech was on time friendly cleaned up after himself and prepped the area to avoid leaks. My problem was resolved quickly."

"My tenant called me about water dripping from the attic and I thought my worst fears of having to purchase an entire new Heat Pump/AC system were coming true.  I called Christian HVAC on Sunday June 30th and a technician was up in the attic at 6pm checking out the problem.  Turns out my old HVAC system was set up to drain to a sewer stack which nowadays is a big no no.  I also found out the other HVAC system in the attic (downstairs neighbor) was draining to the same place and was destined to overflow as well!  The technician (Dan) explained everything and even spoke to my downstairs neighbor explaining that we both needed to get dedicated separate lines to the outside of the property.  This was a complex job, on a very old heat pump and it was not one but two units to reroute I was honestly really worried about the cost.  This morning, Christian HVAC showed up with two technicians and completed all the work in less than 3 hours. They laid tarps, vacuumed up and even placed floorboards I bought up in the attic where they needed them to work.  For the price I paid (and my neighbor's price was equally just as low) I was so pleased I bought their yearly service contract to cover my older system and will be buying another contract from them for my primary residence.  Highly recommend this company, fantastic service and professionalism no BS.

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Dresher, PA

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
