My new roof looks okay but is crooked in places, the roofers left nails all over my yard, 6 months later and I'm still finding nails in my yard. In addition to that they left a huge oil stain on my driveway that I had to argue with the foreman about until it got cleaned up. The first day on the job and the foreman said I had a nice house and asked what my husband does for work. I said I don't have a husband, and he asked if my parents helped me purchase my home. I let him know that I purchased the house on my own. 2 months after the roof was completed I still had not received my warranty. It took me about 6 phone calls, and an email to the owner before I got the warranty sent to me. After I emailed the owner the foreman sent a snarky text saying I should have contacted him instead of the company. "Bryan ( Candland Roofing-Construction ) was excellent to with. Bryan is very knowledgeable about every aspect of the residential roof system and performed detailed inspections/oversight all thru the work. The work crew was very skilled, worked very hard and was pleasant to interact with. Sometimes roofers can be rather gruff, but not these workers. Bryan was very courteous, answered all of my questions, made recommendations and adjustments as necessary. Bryan followed thru with all paperwork ( warranties, contract etal. ). "I had some broken, cracking stucco that I needed checked for underlying damage and patched in a relatively short period of time pursuant to refinancing my home.  I had contacted two other stucco contractors off of Angie's list to get bids and neither one was very responsive.  Ted Cowan from ACES/GSS was very responsive.  He came out the day we got a hold of him and gave me a bid on the spot.  He also walked me carefully through what potential issues there might be and how he would go about fixing them so there would be no further damage.  

He said he could be back within three to four days but came back the very next day to test for underlying problems, of which there weren't any, and to take out the broken stucco and put on the cement layer.  He came back a week later and finished the job.  It looks perfect. The color matches exactly.  I finally did get a bid from one of the other contractors and Ted's bid was half the cost.  I watched the repair and Ted's men did a great job.  The went to extra lengths to make sure that the patch carefully overlapped with the existing water barrier so I wouldn't have to repair this again any time soon.

I am so pleased that I am asking Ted for a bid to do stucco when I have most of the windows in my house replaced.  Based on my experience so far I'd recommend him to anyone."

"In June of this year we needed to have our 9 year old house painted, along with replacing some weather damaged trim around our windows. We hired a painting contractor who claimed to know what he was doing. Instead of replacing the trim he tried to caulk, fill, and cover up the old rotten boards. He watered down the paint and then proceeded to use one very thick coat instead of the two coats he promised. He ended up destroying our soffit and siding. He also damaged the weep holes on most of our lower level windows. We were left with a huge mess, and lost half the money we paid up front. "He showed up on the date arranged and did a complete roof analysis (he told me this by phone, since he did the "maintenance package" while I was at work). After examining, sealing and calking everything that needed it, he called me and let me know the status of my roof and anything that may need to be done for it.  Fortunately, everything looked good and nothing additional was needed.  This impressed me, since he obviously did not try to "upsell" me, asking me to purchase a service or object that wasn't really needed.  This alone earned my respect and trust!  I have had small leaks around the skylights, and so will test the quality of the calking when we have our next serious rain storm!

Al and Rick came to the rescue to repair a copper leak issue within the wall which may have ruptured due to the cold temperatures.  Once they isolated the problem, we managed to figure out that one of the previous owners of the property had done a patch job of hacking off the outdoor facet and capping the end of the vertical pipe.  This caused water to stagnate and be prone to freezing.  I was given the option to just fix the copper end rupture or to update the terminal end with a freezeless outdoor valve.  I opted to have a facet in the back of the house.

In addition, we discovered that the pressure valve in the house was shot and to be honest, I was not crazy about the rotary valve which when shutting off had a little water leak.  Despite their already long day, they were more than willing to go the extra mile to replace the regulator and shut off valve.  Something that gave me an additional peace of mind.

Their work was professional, clean and trustworthy.  I would recommend Expert Plumbing, Heating Air and Electrical to anyone looking to deal with an emergency home issue or just to get some help updating water, heating or electrical issues.  If you are lucky, you may even get Al and Rick to do the work.  Worth every penny.
