"I was very impressed with all of the work Jon did.  He came out on time and gave a bid that was very reasonable so I asked when he could start and he started the project the same week.  He fixed the doors, repaired the electrical and repaired and sealed the grout in both bathrooms. Because our home is older, the grout had to be custom matched and it looked beautiful when he was done.  We ordered custom shower doors which Jon installed along with all new shower fixtures.  He also repaired the dry rot on the siding of our house in two different locations.  He matched the siding and the paint so perfectly, we could not tell where the damage had been after he completed the job. Jon was always easy to reach and kept me informed through each stage of the repair process.   I really appreciated Jon's professionalism and attention to detail. I will definitely call him again when I need repairs around our home. <br />"

"Peter was very fast and always prompt. After measuring on a Sunday, he had the custom door made on Monday. I absolutely love my door. It was custom made and it’s pretty large door! The price was reasonable!"

"This is a letter of recommendation for Shannon Crouch, owner <br /> of Down Home Construction, Inc. <br /> <br /> I have known Mr. Crouch for four years both as an individual <br /> and as a contractor. He remodeled my <br /> “great room”. He put in <br /> recessed lighting and added air conditioning ducts. Since this particular room did not have space <br /> above the ceiling for the recessed lighting, he had to make modifications to <br /> fit the lighting. It looks beautiful, the lighting is perfect, and the room is <br /> now a comfortable temperature. <br /> <br /> He also ran PVC piping to my plants outside that my <br /> sprinklers didn’t reach. My plants sure <br /> appreciate his work too. Mr. Crouch has <br /> also done many other small jobs for me, including plumbing, windows, doors, and <br /> other jobs. <br /> <br /> He is honest, on time, and works to your satisfaction. I will hire him anytime with full <br /> confidence. <br />"

"Thomas came to give me an estimate on installing insulation on a family room ceiling. We set a time for an appointment. Thomas was on time and called when he was on this way. After look at the room and discussing what I was looking for, Thomas didn't think the integrity of the ceiling was such that it could bare the additional weight. He made the recommendation to have insulation applied to the roof. Unfortunately, his company does not do this type of work. I really appreciate his honesty and his recommendation."

"Brian came out to take a look at what needed to be done within a day of being called.  I had a small spot of dry rot on the exterior wall of my garage and he estimated the cost to be between $400 & $600.  While repairing the wall, he noticed that there was also damage to the fence and replaced it at not additional cost.  When he left, the work area was cleaner that it was when he got there.  I'd definitely use him again! <br />"

"Our experience with Ryan and his crew was extraordinary. They are committed professionals and dedicated to give it their all every day. Ryan advised and explained each step as it was being installed. He did all the necessary paperwork with the city and PGand E making our job easy. We would not hesitate to recommend Sol Power to our friends and family members. We don't think there can be a solar (construction) company better in the entire valley. We are extremely pleased. <br />"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Fowler, CA

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
