"No problems with the quality of the work or the time it took, but it was surprisingly expensive. So much so that I almost regretted having the work done. The plumber found the shut-off valves inoperable and began replacing them without telling me about it or the additional cost. I should have looked over his shoulder more often and asked more questions, but I did not. Any repairman beginning additional repairs without asking really rubs me the wrong way and leads to a "B" rating at best and a "No" on hiring again. Learn from my mistake: make certain that you do your research on pricing and agree on a price range and scope of work with Geiler (or anyone, for that matter) before they begin the work."

"B-Dry repaired the wall including going underneath a foot of concrete flooring. Attractive white vinyl covering was placed over the vapor barrier and concrete floor was repaired. Overall a smooth and complete job."

"I received my radon results in a timely manner. I did not hire them specifically, (so, I cannot say I would hire them again) the local company contracted them for this service. The home inspector I hired, handled this service for me and included the results in his report."

"The flooding happened on a Monday. My husband called Tuesday afternoon and within 24 hours, Travis & Cameron were at our house. They told us exactly what happened and explained why the flooding happened. They secured the wires, replaced a pump, and cleaned out the sump pump for no charge because it was under warranty. Both men were professional and courteous, and very knowledgeable about the work they did. Travis explained everything he was doing, and we are very confident in the work they did."

"It went great! They were very professional and were here when they said they would be and cleaned up behind themselves. We did have a minor leakage problem with the first rain, but we called and they were back here within a couple of days to fix the problem and we have had no leakage since. I was impressed that they handled the call back so quickly, which to me, says a lot about their integrity. The company that did our original waterproofing has left Kentucky and our "lifetime" transferable warranty is now void, so having been burned once we were a bit leery, but they proved to be a very reliable company. Would not hesitate to recommend or use them again."

It did not go well. I received two estimates for replacing a sewer pump.  Both were $500-600. Final cost was about double. I went with DeWitt because of the Angie's List ratings and plumber states they have experience with sewer line installation and repair. Not enough when they came to my place. Thankfully for you, they learned on my dime.

The undersized pump they installed initially cost me an extra $300 in labor.  That mistake cost the plumber two extra trips and more time out of service for me. Not sure why the old pump wasn?t inspected before they replaced it with a smaller, ineffective model.

The kicker for me was a guy who happened to be working on my driveway called and said he?d installed two pumps. He said if it wasn?t working, my issue was most likely the pump size.  He t/w the plumber on their second visit, suggested pump size. Sure enough, after unneeded check valve and piping, an upsized pump did the trick. Make sure you?re asking an expert and get their experience.  I would NOT recommend nor will I rehire DeWitt.

FAQs for sump pump repair or replace projects in Hardinsburg, KY

Sump pumps last about 10 years with proper maintenance and prompt repairs. Several factors can influence your sump pump’s lifespan, such as usage, environmental conditions, and installation. Premium sump pumps with heavy-duty motors and quality components tend to last longer than lower-cost models. Pedestal sump pumps usually last longer than submersible models since they’re not constantly exposed to water.

A basement French drain is a drainage system installed in basements or around a building’s foundation to redirect water and prevent flooding. This system features a trench with a perforated pipe that catches and transports water away. These systems can crack, freeze, or clog, potentially resulting in flooding or strain on your sump pump.

You can use a sump pump in your yard to minimize pooling water and landscape damage, but it’s best used in conjunction with other drainage systems. This can include French drains, trench drains, underground downspouts, and other equipment. Proper lawn care, such as soil aeration and native plants, also aids with drainage.
