"I ended up looking for a new pest control company after the business I used to deal with was bought up by a large corporation. The initial hire was for fire ant eradication and the ants started coming back shortly after the corporation took over. Jenkins Pest Control came the day after I found them here, and arrived an hour early for my appointment. They not only treated for fire ants. Fleas, roaches and spiders were included. This first treatment was kept outside since I have pet rabbits in the house. But they were very thorough, spraying both the yard and exterior of the house. So hopefully, we won't need any inside treatment. When they left the fire ant hills were gone. Their price is more reasonable than what I had paid previously for quarterly treatments. If their work keeps the ants out of my yard between visits, this will stay a 5 star review."

"Everything was GREAT! One day after work I walked into the kitchen and saw a GIANT rat on my counter top. I am extremely freaked out by them. I grabbed my baby and ran outside, I was not going back inside until that sucker was gone. As I was on the phone with my husband (the neighbor must have heard our conversation) my neighbor said they were dealing with the same problem. They spoke VERY highly about Billy, and Pest Roper! I got Pest Roper's number from my neighbor and gave them a call. It was 5:15 on a Friday, so I wasn't really expecting anyone to answer the phone, but to my surprise Pest Roper did. Sharon was very pleasant to deal with. She went above and beyond and got Billy to my house that same evening! After a very thorough inspection Billy found several points of entry, and showed them all to me. He even went up into the attic and showed me where the rats were running around the insulation, and chewing the AC pipe and wiring. Billy gave me an estimate that included sealing all points of entry, setting traps, and cleaning/sanitizing the attic. When we agreed on a price, Billy set traps in the kitchen then more in the attic and garage. Before he was finished setting the traps in the garage he had already caught the rat on my countertop. I just couldn't believe that! After the house was sealed he returned to check the traps, and we ended up catching a total of 16 rats. Once all of the rats were gone Billy and David sanitized and disinfected the attics. Billy also removed all of the rat droppings that were in the storage area and on top of my A/C unit. I really could not be happier with the level of professionalism and customer service from Pest Roper. The whole experience from scheduling with Sharon to the work being done by Billy and David was hassle-free. They even gave me a lifetime guarantee with this work, and assured me they would come back for free to check on things whenever I wanted. Thank you Pest Roper! On a side note I happened to mention to Billy about a giant wasps nest on my daughter's playset. She hasn't been able to play on it for over two weeks because she's allergic to them. So Billy put on a bee suit (which my daughter loved) went back there and killed what looked like 100 wasp! (he didn't even change me.) I'm glad to know that if I ever have a pest problem I can call Pest Roper!"

"We had some cute trees that were living rent free, having parties and making messes in our attic. Sharps Rodent Prevention came and evicted them and covered up all their free checkin points of entry."

FAQs for rodent pest control service projects in Highlands, TX

Rodent exclusion seals every gap, vent, and crack that rodents use to sneak inside your home. Most homeowners pay an average of $200 to $600 for this add-on. By blocking entry points, you create a long-term barrier that cuts down on repeat infestations and helps protect both your family and your property.

Pros start with an inspection, then place tamper-resistant bait stations and traps in high-traffic spots. They’ll also seal entry points and clean droppings to reduce health risks. Follow-up visits confirm that the plan worked and that no new rodents have moved in. This step-by-step approach removes the current infestation and helps keep your home rodent-free going forward.

A trained pest-control pro can pinpoint hidden access points using a flashlight, thermal imaging, and plenty of crawl-space sleuthing. During an inspection, the specialist maps every gap, vent, or pipe run that rats use, then explains how to seal each one. This detailed report lets you tackle the weak spots immediately and dramatically lowers the odds of another infestation.

Rodent prevention starts with managing food and entry points. Store pantry items in airtight containers, take out trash promptly, and keep pet food sealed. Outside, trim vegetation and stack firewood away from the house. Inside, seal gaps with steel wool or hardware cloth. A tidy yard and a buttoned-up home give rats and mice few reasons—or routes—to move in.

For wall or attic nests, pros place snap traps or CO2-powered units in the exact runways rats use, then return to remove carcasses and reset as needed. Poison is risky indoors because rats may die in hidden spots, creating odors or health issues, so most technicians avoid it. Once trapping is complete, they’ll seal entry points and clean droppings to finish the job.

Plan on several weeks, especially for larger infestations. Your pro will set traps, return every few days to collect rats, and adjust placement until activity stops. Final visits include sealing access points and sanitizing affected areas. Timelines vary, but most homes are rat-free after two to four follow-ups. Prompt scheduling and good sanitation can shorten the process.
