"Rivera Concrete Paving's $8,500 bid became $11,000. Owner Magdiel Rivera adds charges after you're committed and doesn't follow through after payment. Cost increases: I mentioned roots upfront - he said equipment could handle it, then charged $450. Said grading unnecessary, then created false urgency claiming we HAD to grade before concrete. Later said could grade after. Added $1,800. Crew broke drainage pipes, charged me $250. Couldn't move AC condenser despite my asking during estimate. Payment tactics: Said pay "when satisfied." Then requested half early, then full payment before done. When I said work incomplete, he asked "Don't you trust me?" then broke promises. Broken promises: Walkway cured wrong, no follow-up. $1,800 grading included 3-month landscaping - no communication. Promised debris cleanup, later said not responsible. Damaged 4-month fence, couldn't repair properly, paid $300 after pressure. Dismisses costs at estimate, adds them later. Makes promises, then excuses."

"Last year Merit Asphalt patched a 10 X 10 foot area that was in bad condition. There were areas that were raised above the rest of the driveway, and also areas that were completely worn away down to the dirt. The repair job was done perfectly. After a year it still looks perfect. I am very happy with the quality and price of the job."

"My driveway was in dire need of seal coating, had multiple cracks and the apron was beginning to crumble. I called Bill, he came out that evening to give me an estimate. <br /> <br /> After assessing the situation, he suggested that it may not be in my best interest to cold patch the crumbling apron, as the first plow of winter would likely pop out the patch and take more asphalt with it. That would never have occurred to me! I am so grateful for his honesty. He could have kept mum, charged me more and done the extra work, and I would have been worse off in the end. <br /> <br /> He gave me an estimate on the spot and verified that they would be able to do the work the following Monday. <br /> <br /> In short, they arrived right when they promised (called me at the office). Called me when they were done. <br /> <br /> I'm extremely pleased. In fact, I pointed them to a neighbor who I knew was in need of a similar service, and told them to mention me by name."

"The provider responded promptly to my request for a quote and explained the need for some grading work to ensure the proper drainage of water after the installation. I was provided information on what role I would play, as I needed to clear the driveway prior to the application date and remove the wooden stairs leading into the house so the driveway could be place underneath. Installation day was seamless. The professional crew prepped the area and had the driveway in place promptly. The site was cleaned when they were done and within a day, it was ready for car traffic. Very professional and provide a great product. <br /> I will definitely use them again and recommend them to others. <br />"

"I thought it was very professional and courteous that they were honest with me and thought I needed a full tear out and re-installation of my concrete rather than just pushing their mudjacking services on me."

"TL:DR; They were responsive, communicative, reasonably priced and hard working. So, my husband and I moved into our house about 3-ish years ago (right during COVID) and have been in the process of doing home renovation and maintenance regarding the inside and outside of our new home. With new homes come new projects and we knew we wanted to invest in an outdoor patio in our backyard for our twins (less than a year old, but preparing for the future when they're ready to play). We contacted a total of three concrete companies to start using two recommendations and a general Google search. The first recommendation we sent over all of the information and details of what we were looking for including pictures of the space, a site survey by the company was scheduled and at the last minute they called to cancel and when we asked them to reschedule, we were ghosted. The second place was unresponsive and the third place we tried to again schedule a site survey, just to never hear from them again. I GIVE THIS CONTEXT, because I was already exhausted and frustrated seemingly just how POORLY UNRESPONSIVE so many businesses were for this sizeable project. I reached out to ANS and Antonio and Nick were WARM, FRIENDLY, RESPONSIVE and setup a site survey and SHOWED UP ON TIME AND WITH PURPOSE. They are a smaller company and a little new to the area, and we were happy to partner with them after we went and checked a few of their most recent jobs. Antonio and Nick answered all of our questions, spent time reviewing the space with us and walking us through our thoughts on the shape and size and answered our questions to better help educate us on a concrete project (since we had never done one before.) They were very transparent that they would keep us updated, with with projects and also their work being very weather-dependent, that there would have to be some flexibility in start times of the different phases of the project. Again, knowing ahead of time and feeling fully informed of this left me with no concern. BUILDING EXPECTATIONS is important and they did just that. We were communicated with during the different phases including the CAT work that had to be done to get the ground ready before the pour and the team that was out there for all phases were very respectful and make sure to keep clean/tidy. We also share a driveway with our neighbor and stressed out important it was to make sure no equipment/mess/people were on that neighbor's driveway and they did GREAT and were super thoughtful about it. I would recommend them for their communication and work ethic alone."

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Kenosha, WI

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
