"I highly recommend Alpha Foundations. The first guy they sent out to evaluate the problem, Joseph Green, was extremely thorough and professional. He went above and beyond to make me happy. The two men who did the job, which was leveling two patios and filling in a gap between the house and the patios and repairing two substantial cracks, Cooper and Blake, did an amazing job. They were extremely thorough, making sure they addressed all issues and they did the job in a timely manner and cleaned up as if they were never there. I am 100 percent satisfied with all three men and I would highly recommend them and hire them again."

"This company is a Godsend! I was paralyzed by all the decisions and paperwork that came with my insurance check: Which contractors? How will I get the mortgage company to cooperate? What about the permits? BUT Tori & Jason guided us every step of the way. They know the best contractors. They know how to navigate the mortgage companies. They pull all the permits. Simply, they made the nightmare I was in go away, and now that my home is finished, it's a dream! Thank you thank you thank you!"

"I picked Mike out of the 3 contractors I interviewed - one was another high rated Angie's list vendor and one a referral but Mike was the one I felt most comfortable hiring. A prior owner had done a partial remodel with new shower but the bathroom still had the original 1962 vanity, soffit, heat lamps and ugly light fixture. I had a basic idea of what I wanted and had already picked out my floor tiles but Mike was very helpful in designing the rest including vanity, countertop, sink, faucet and handles - the job took a little too long (he is aware and addressed my concerns about this) but the end result is GAW-JUS. I can't believe how beautiful may bathroom looks and was so proud to show it to my family on Thanksgiving !! The next project is the kitchen remodel which hopefully will be scheduled after the holidays and will definitely using Lelack construction for the project"

"Black stone did a nice job. The design phase was very professional, lots of back and forth with their designer. Limited upselling. The construction team was efficient and careful, they covered everything during both demolition and construction. Communication was good, usually a sore point in remodeling. Change orders were within reasonable parameters and priced accordingly. I had some minor issues with the staffing , winter holidays and illness among the workers added an extra 2 weeks. Overall we are very pleased with blackstone’s work and would hire them again."

"They were AWESOME!  I met with Doug after I finally went to closing on this foreclosed house.  It had been basically gutted and emptied of EVERYTHING!  We discussed repairs, replacements, colors and time frame.  I was going to be coordinating everything from New York and Doug made me feel so comfortable and unworried about that being possible that I knew immediately he was the person for my job!  Schedules also had to be coordinated so that all the work and restorations would be complete before me and my family arrived for the holidays.  Doug and his crew went above and beyond anything I even realized would be involved with a project of this scope!  The repairs he did were flawless and the painting absolutely gorgeous!  Doug and his crew had complete access to my home with me being 1800 miles away and I never once had to worry.  He was even kind enough to coordinate deliveries for me of things I had shipped to the house to prepare for the holidays.  Doug took before and after pictures every step of the way because I wasn't there to see it for myself and even created an online picture album for us!  His professionalism, cleanliness and courtesy were beyond compare.  I can not find enough great things to say about Doug and his team to do them justice!  <br /> In the course of the 2 weeks of repairs and painting that were done to the house, I discovered that Doug has many other talents beyond just painting. We ended up hiring Doug for the balance of the restoration work.  He and his wife Donna stepped up to the plate and rearranged their schedule with their other jobs in order to finish my house in time for my family's arrival to spend Christmas in Florida in my new home!  They spent the next 3 weeks there. I spent hours on the phone with Donna helping me with choices on everything from faucets to vanities to cabinet colors and finishes!  They remodeled and replaced all the bathrooms including tiling floors, installed new closet systems throughout the house, completely remodeled the kitchen including beautiful new cabinets, granite counter tops, appliances and their installation, replaced carpets and every light fixture in the house. <br /> We have already hired Paint N Moore to now do the exterior of the house before we return again in February. <br />  We highly, highly recommend Doug and his Paint N Moore crew! <br />"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in North Palm Beach, FL

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
