"Great job! I would definitely hire Higgins again. They were professional and punctual. The floors look great and the painters didn’t leave any mess behind. The price was very reasonable."

Customers say: Quick response

"Excellent communication skills. He responded quickly to questions, did a very good job keeping us updated on the project's progress and he was pro-active about working out logistical details before the project start date. The communication aspect of the experience was quite refreshing compared to other contractor experiences we have endured in the past. Quality of the work was exceptional! The painted walls look great and the wall repairs that happened before the painting also are spotless. He left the house clean and there was no mess to clean up after the work was done. We would HIGHLY recommend this company. We plan to use them again for any future painting projects and we give them our highest recommendation!"

Customers say: True professional

"I am very unsatisfied with my experience. I called the office to talk about my projects and get a quote on the jobs that I needed completed. We discussed all three jobs. The office said this would take a day and quoted me a price. They charged me money to hold my appointment date. A month went by, I had to call the office the day before the appointment to make sure that someone was still going to be arriving the next day. The appointment was scheduled to start at 8:00 am. The handyman came to my house at 12:45. He looked at the jobs that were to be completed and said that he could only finish one of them and asked which of the three I would like him to do. He went out to buy materials and returned back to my house sometime around 3:00. He never even fully finished one of the jobs. He left my house at 5:30 and I was charged over $1000. I was also charged for a gallon of paint that he never even used because the job was never completed. "

"Ray and his crew did a great job. It took a few days. Power washing of the shadowbox fence and the deck were done in one day. For staining it took a few days with some days in between due to the weather. The deck and the fence now look a lot better."

"Our front and back entrances were badly chipped and cracked. We knew it would be a tedious task to scrape and sand, and Zack did a great job at both and vacuumed so well that there was never a mess. The painting around all of the windows of the doors was exact! He also installed a new dead bolt, door knob and a new handle on the screen door. It all looks brand new! The inside of that door was also done, and what a difference it made. Our French doors needed to be restained and again, no mess and perfectly stained around each window. He is so meticulous. Zach was professional, communicated exactly what the job needed and was always timely. I strongly recommend him."

"The team was extremely professional. They prepared all interior and exterior services thoroughly, taking off all old and peeling paint. They worked efficiently and were respectful of the tenants. They addressed all the issues we discussed in the contract and the result is a clean, refreshed inside and outside."

FAQs for small projects painting or staining projects in Pittsburgh, PA

You'll need about two gallons of paint to fully cover your kitchen cabinets with two coats. Since each gallon covers around 350 square feet, it's a good idea to measure your cabinets or use a paint calculator to determine exactly how much you'll need. Starting with one or two coats of primer and then applying two to three layers of paint will give you a flawless, durable finish. Using high-quality paint can reduce the number of coats needed and provide a long-lasting finish.

The best type of paint for your kitchen cabinets is latex paint because it applies evenly and creates a durable finish. If you're painting wood surfaces and need extra adhesion, acrylic paint is a great alternative. We don't recommend oil-based paint for residential use due to its VOC emissions. For finishes, go with eggshell, semi-gloss, gloss, or satin, as matte finishes aren't as durable or as easy to clean.

The best method for painting kitchen cabinets is spray painting because it gives you a smooth, even finish without brush strokes. While brushes and rollers can work, they often leave marks and require more effort. If you're aiming for a professional look, spray painting is your best bet to enhance the beauty and durability of your cabinets.
