Customers say: Quality work

"I m new to Home Advisor and have had excellent results! In the past I have reached out to contractors and have had spotty results. Often no return calls or over priced estimates. I Submitted a request on a Saturday morning around 6:00 and had a phone call from Pete May - the owner of Precision Decorative Concrete asking to come by that morning for an estimate! Pete showed up and was professional and and very detailed in his proposal. He said he would email me later in the day. Because I have had several other estimates I expected that Pete s estimate would be out of my price range. I was very happy that the estimate was well below others and provided more detail. ( this project has been on the back burner for 3 years !) I accepted his proposal and the job was complete within a week ! ( I didn t ask, but didn t expect them before 8:00 am!). I have never had a contractor show up early! They were here well before 8:00 am and did prep work as planned. The rest of the project went extremely well. I would recommend Precision Decorative Concrete for professionalism , price, and quality of work. Thanks , Pete and team for a job well done!"

"I would highly recommend Procrete. They are a hard working family business. They were efficient and pleasant to deal with. The work was high quality for a reasonable price. The start date changed a few times due to weather conditions but they called and updated me each time and were there when they said. I'm one of those people that usually finds something wrong with everything, but can't say enough about The great experience we had and the awesome patio I have. Thanks Procrete"

"Outstanding job! I am extremely pleased with the work. They did my large driveway and also pointed my brick steps. They finished on time and did some nice little extras at no charge. Highly recommended!"

"I contacted Ron to come out and give me an estimate for new concrete around my new pool. His price was very reasonable for all the work that needed to be done. They removed all my old concrete, disposed of it and leveled out the remaining dirt/sand. Ron and his men were great! They were able to work around my new pool that was installed, and filled the concrete up right up next to the coping. They they were always on time, and I had no problems with them whatsoever. They had everything completely finished as was quoted on his estimate sheet. They took care not to let any newly poured concrete into the new pool that was already filled with water. I would highly recommend Ron and his men for anyone looking for concrete work in and around their house. (Delayed post from 2017.)"

"Tony and his crew did part of our driveway and a walkway 4 weeks ago. He and his team were professional, informative, punctual, and trustworthy. The job was reasonably priced and expertly done. Tony even called after the job was completed to follow-up and make sure that we were pleased with the work. The best experience we’ve had with a contractor to date! We highly recommend Bayshore Concrete and would not hesitate to hire them again for future concrete and masonry work!"

"They were able to stop the problem of water entering our basement from multiple areas. Their very knowledgeable experience was superior to any other vendor we asked to view the problem. In addition, they had to complete major demolition of parts of the basement, reinforce the exterior walls, and bring the finished basement back to life. Enviropro also checked the work once a year for any signs of recurring problems. We have recommended them to many of our neighbors and friends as a reliable and trusted company that FIXED our basement problems!"

"<br /> Basements Love US came out in a terrible rain storm to address a water leak in my concrete basement. They identified two areas of trouble; my patio slab connected to the back of my basement and two vertical cracks 10 feet high.  They poured concrete and replaced the slab including a bell drain for drainage which came out very nice. Even built a stair that leads to the sliding glass patio.  They repaired the vertical crack by digging down to the bottom of my wall (excavated) and they used this waterproof gel, then filled the space back with dirt. It looks very nice. The waterproofing and concrete work came with a warranty which gave me comfort. They also sprayed the basement with a mold remediation product and did an OZONE treatment to purify the air. "The company has a nice selection of product and can tailor them to suit. I got an item near the top of the line. They matched the brick on my house pretty well. The site prep involved digging perhaps 30 inches into the ground and pouring a concrete footer. They let this cure for a few days and then a real brick mason came back for the final construction. There were a couple of minor niggling issues, which I let them know about, and they were out the morning of the next business day to take care of these, and were very pleasant about it at that. Nice way of dealing with a complaint. Many people have complimented me on this mailbox, and a couple of other homes in the neighborhood also purchased boxes from this company. They did a nice job for me and cleaned up well. Everything was done on time and as promised. They even hauled away the old, broken mailbox and post. I can recommend this company if you need a mail box, and in particular a higher-end brick model."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Pleasantville, NJ

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
