"Cory Guerra came and inspected my home. Unfortunately due to my financial situation I am unable to move forward currently. I recommend giving foundation recovery systems a call. Cory did excellent at explaining what is going on with my basement."

"Vincent construction is top notch!! They built an enclosed porch for me and finished putting the metal roof on the west side of my house. They answered all my questions, and were able to make an old house look beautiful. I will definitely call Vincent construction with any future projects."

Hello, I am a recently retired educator and coach. I learned building trades from my father as a child and worked with him in construction for 8 years building houses from the ground up including plumbing, wiring, concrete, cabinetry, etc. from framing to finish. I have completed my own additions, remodeling, and repairs for the last 30 years. I'm a detail oriented perfectionist that enjoys working with my hands and providing a quality, reasonably priced service.

"Mike was prompt in providing an estimate the week prior and was available to install the tile the following week.  He was prompt in showing up for the estimating appointment, prompt in getting his estimate to me, and showed up on time to perform the work.  He and his coworker did an excellent job over the two days (the total job took approximately 12 elapsed hours).  I'm very pleased with the result.  They encountered a few wrinkles as the tile I had shown Mike when he estimated the job was not what I ultimately decided on. The tumbled marble was a bit heavier and the sheets had a tendency to droop after being placed on the wall.  But, he solved that problem easily - which shows how important experience is.   <br /> They did an excellent job of protecting the way to the kitchen, laying down drop clothes from the garage all the way up stairs to the kitchen.  Each day they removed all that and cleaned up very well.  The final clean up left the kitchen floor cleaner than when they started! <br /> I wouldn't hesitate to use Mike again. <br />"

"Another perfect job all around.  I used Laurie Kitchen & Bath in 2012 for a $200,000 complete remodel job of our home, so of course I had them back for this latest work.  They will also be here later this month, (September), to rebuild both levels of our decks for another $40,000.00.  Bob, Paul and Beth are the absolute best to work with.  They are extremely friendly and will do whatever it takes to get the job done to your satisfaction.  Beth seems to have second sight when it comes to picking out finishes.  After a brief conversation with my wife, she was in tune with our style which helped immensely when it came to choosing colors, fixtures, etc.  A few things needed adjustments and additional attention, and I couldn't be more pleased with their response time and willingness to help.  All of their employees are just as friendly and competent.  Laurie Kitchen & Bath is so much more than just kitchens and bathrooms.  They are your complete contractor.  For anything they do not handle, they act as the General Contractor and arrange for the best qualified subs to do the work, HVAC, etc.  I recommend them without hesitation."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Saint Robert, MO

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
