"Great Company to work with. They remodeled my kitchen and bathroom without any concern. During the remodeling I always got a quick response to my questions. Their prices are very reasonable. What I liked the most is that they always finished the work on the promised date and with an excellent quality. A few months ago my water heater broke and they fixed it in less than 24 hours. Without a doubt I will call Gerardo every time I am in need. Thanks Rosalinda Martinez Rosalindamtz@aol.com 2707 Norbert Way Sacramento, Ca 95833"

"I had All Phase Remodeling out to my condo for multiple repairs. The customer service was great! Bryan treated my home like it was his own and took care to protect all areas he worked in with tarps and plastic. The work was outstanding and met all my expectations. They used quality parts and finished the job in a timely manner. The price was good too. I give them 5 stars and will definitely use them again!"

"My late mother's house was built in 1892. There had been several additions and upgrades to the property before she bought it 12 years ago. <br /> There was extensive  dry rot and insect damage in the wrap around front and back porches, their roof supports, the house underpinnings, and portion of the  living wall.  This was identified by a pest inspection I requested as part of putting the house up for sale. Mike's bids were reasonable and detailed. Due to financial issues, Mike worked with me, completing work as funds became available. Additional problems were discovered during demolition and each was addressed with a full estimate for the additional work needed. Mike kept me informed each step of the way via email and phone calls. I live <br /> 1 1/2 hours drive away and could not be present to manage the project on a daily bases.  <br /> Due to the age of the house, there was no way to bring it up to current code. Mike suggested additional underpinnings and bracing be added to reinforce the structure. This was made the house much more sound  and eliminated most of the floor squeaks.          <br /> Despite a February of unusually snowy weather, the work was completed on time and within budget.  Mike bought in the necessary trades people needed for interior and exterior paint, flooring and electrical. This work was also completed in a timely fashion and on budget. <br /> During the whole house inspection only few items were called out. Mike took care of them quickly and the repairs requested by the buyer were not extensive or expensive.  <br /> Mike kept me informed during the entire process, dealt with me patiently as I panicked along the way, the project cost what I expected and was performed professionally. <br /> I'd work with him again in a minute and would trust any tradespeople he recommended."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Somerset, CA

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
