He was very helpful with good practical pointers about longevity for the toilets (how to read flow of incoming water), frequency for flushing the hot water heater, where to turn off the water in a crisis, turning it off at the street--and what tools to have, among other tips. Also the critters to watch out for--black widows, for one, when lifting the meter cover.

"I have used Pro Plumbing for years, and their quality has remained top-notch (some companies start out with stellar quality and service, but degrade over time). Today, I needed several things done (unclogging a slow drain, painting the fitting on a propane line, and fixing a leaky outside faucet), and Josh came out to perform all of the work (I sprung the final job on him last minute, and he was very professional and courteous - telling me that he had the necessary parts on his truck to do the work right then). Pro Plumbing practices up-front pricing, so after inspecting the areas where the work needed to be done, Josh was able to provide me with an itemized cost list, such that I could see exactly what I would be paying for each task (which allowed me the flexibility to choose whether or not I wanted to complete everything that day). Josh was very knowledgeable, and explained what he was doing as he went along - making sure that everything was working as expected once he had completed each job. He also inspected everything after he had tuned the water back on - to ensure proper water flow to all faucets. As a bonus, he even showed me where to find the backflow valve for my irrigation system. My water heater went out nearly two weeks ago the night before we took a week long trip.  Since we had another place to take showers, we got the company  we use for other ac/heating service to shut down the water heater and also got a proposal from them which was around $2200 for a water heater of the exact make (State) as the one which went bad. 

After reading some water heater reviews, we decided we'd prefer a Rheem, so didn't use the first service provider. 

We got a quote from another plumbing co which was roughly the same (only about $150 more) as the Water Heater Experts quote, but saw in Angie's List that they only had a "B" rating. 

Seeing that Water Heater Experts had an "A" rating and specialized in water heaters, I called them and discussed our needs with them to see what they had to say. 

Unlike the other plumbing company, they did not try to "upsell" me in any way.  In fact, they did more of a "downsell" and probably lost out on what would have been a few quick "sucker" bucks (not really, I'm not that gullible). 

Anyway, from my discussions with both the boss and the installer, I decided to just get the basics done and see how well this higher rated Rheem water heater performs.  Their labor guarantee made that a comfortable decision.

Also, I learned from them that a few simple things like regularly draining the water heater once a year or so could prolong the life of the water heater (and that the problem isn't necessarily a bad water supply, as another plumbing co tried to sell).

My old "State" brand heater started leaking after 8 years use.  Oddly enough, though, Water Heater Experts told me that my old water heater was actually BUILT much longer ago  and showed me how to determine this based on model/serial numbers.

Since I have rental property with the identical brand (only 40 gal instead of 50), I checked and found that it is also MUCH OLDER than I had thought. 

I'm planning to drain that tank soon to see what kind of goo comes out.

Great service, good advice, good prices, and a better warranty on labor than the other guys I checked. 

And if I ever need a replacement (maybe for the rental), I'm DEFINITELY calling the Water Heater Experts AGAIN.

"Had old CPVC replaced with PEX. Required demolition of drywall for complete replacement for 3 bedroom 2. Full bath house son to be 4 bedroom 3 full bath. "Alpine provides quick service and checks out any problems.  We are completely satisfied with their service and the professional quality of their employees.   In January 2011 they installed a new Everrest split system 16 SEER 48,000 btu air conditioner and coil
matched with Everrest 95% two stage condensing furnace.  They removed and disposed of existing unit.  They put in a new condenser pad and reconnected low voltage and communicating thermostat.  They removed existing duct work and installed new R-8 valve, insulated flex duct for both supply and return, sized for larger unit, and insulated existing floor boots, bringing them up to code.  They installed  airtight collars with dampers.  In short they removed the old system and put in new heating and air conditioning units and installed new ducts throughout the house.  The cost was $9084.

"Gerald is my new handyman! He’s very professional. His service is fast and efficient. I booked him for the assembly of a queen size bed frame & headboard. I requested his services around 9am, he arrived to my residence at 10:30am, then finished at 11:30am! PHENOMENAL!! "Very hard workers, renovated both bathrooms from plumbing to shower doors and trim. It looks great. We have 26year old house and apparently 15 years ago the plumbing was recalled due to failures. Justin Shane changed plumbing in crawlspace to all lines into the house and outside spickets. Found out during this process that our hot water heater was rusting and was replaced. We had bath walls and vanity damaged and had to be returned and replaced. This put us behind and Lowes never offered to deliver any of the products that had to be returned. Justin took items back and got replacements. The return process took over an hour each time due to Lowes unorganized process. There was 5 items damaged when we got back here with them. Justin worked late several nights in order to keep on schedule due to Lowes terrible quality control. All in all, Justin did a great job and we would hire him again."

"If I could give more stars I would!! Billy and his team are knowledgeable, fast, kind and affordable. They know what they are doing and truly care about the work that they do. We have an older home and have had quite a few plumbing issues in the past, but thanks to Appius plumbing I don't worry about ever having another plumbing issue again. They were able to replace all of our old pipes under the house, remove and install a new water heater, and fix our outside faucets in less than a day! Appius plumbing is the real deal.
