"Jack tore down and replaced my aging front porch. He rebuilt the entire porch below the roof and did a fantastic job. The house is over 100 years old and the porch fits the style of the home.perfectly but it is done in modern materials. He was easy to work.with and listened to my ideas and concerns. I get compliments on it regularly from neighbors and others passing by. He has also done work on my antique front door and installed 2 storm doors. Highly recommend him."

"The categories that home advisor provided for us to choose from do not adequately cover the work that Joe and Mike did for us. Our house is over 150 years old and we noticed some issues with the floor in the kitchen and dining room. When they pulled the floor up, it was a total disaster under it. Large holes in the floor, the joists were sitting directly on the dirt. Joe and Mike provided us with options right away on how to fix the situation. They went above and beyond in their work for us. We will definitely hire them again if we have any additional work."

"He and his assistant moved quickly and carefully moving out furniture and took care not to break my clutter of knick knacks. They even put the stuff back, not where it was but I don't think I could have either, too much junk. I was just glad they were considerate and didn't leave me with chaos. Decluttering is my problem not theirs. My floors look the best they have in over 20 years. My house is over 125 years old and I the downstairs floor had been ruined by previous owners, upstairs is beautiful hardwood. Although it's not hardwood the new farmhouse laminate is beautiful and easy to create for and I love it."

HomeAdvisor makes it easy to connect with pros near you. You can read reviews, get quotes and book appointments all in one place.
Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
