"I highly recommend City Renovations and Remodeling to new and experienced homeowners and investors. In fact, Mike Wiggs, owner of the company, was highly recommended to me from a trusted source. Mike has been my designer, general contractor and project manager for over three years. He and his team of subcontractors for all the trades and handymen have successfully completed numerous projects for me. The internal big jobs included Mike and his team remodeling my basement into a permitted apartment with an egress window, injection well system, and recessed lighting; remodeling my kitchen into a larger space, better layout and upgraded appliances, cabinets, backsplashes (e.g., switching from an electric cooktop island to a slide-in gas range and installing a peninsula); changing the location of the sliding door and a set of windows in my sunroom for better flow and sightline from the front door entry to the patio door leading to my wooded backyard; replacing the damaged one of the two HVAC systems (i.e., one for the first floor and basement and the other for the second floor); and whole house interior painting and decorative touches (accent walls, trim, etc.) The external big jobs included Mike and his team resolving the sources of severe water damage to my two-story front door entry area and installing a new door, side lites and stoop. He resolved other water problems at my house by installing upgraded, larger gutters connecting to a new underground drainage system, and re-grading a section of the backyard next to my house in order to better collect water coming onto the house and move it away from the house. The other jobs Mike and his team completed include installing decorative lighting in the front of my house and security lighting at the sides and back; installing and repairing wooden privacy fencing in my backyard; washing away years of mold, mildew and stains from the siding of my house; and installing shelving for two closets and the laundry room to increase my storage space. After years of City Renovations and Remodeling successfully improving or repairing my home, I hired the company to help me with an investment rental property. Mike completed a walk-thru assessment and report to supplement the information from the home inspector and appraiser. Through my pre-purchase consultation with Mike, I got a good idea of what it would take improve the property given my goals and budget. "Melvin and his crew are outstanding! I was amazed by his skills, professionalism, honesty and care. I reached out to him desperately on a Sunday, after the first person I hired did not come with the proper equipment to paint the interior of my home. Melvin came out to do the job THE SAME DAY. "Amazingly smooth and perfect for 3 main reasons. (FYI - LFC's services were from a referral from a co-worker) First, Tony, Uncle Meart, and their entire team could not have been easier to work with. They treated our house like it was their house. Our family like it was their family. They took care to keep the disruption of our daily routine to a minimum. Their workers were properly supervised each day and were respectful. They provided a detailed work schedule that was strictly followed and it was clear when payment installments were due. When there was a need to change the schedule, Tony provided a new work schedule within 2 days. We have never had such a good experience with a contractor. We plan to use them again and already have put them on projects with our family and friends. We were that satisfied and trust their services that much. Second, their work was spotless, professional and timely. Their team's workmanship was of high quality. Whenever something did not look right, it was immediately corrected. Tony or Uncle Meart reviewed all of the work done by their workers to make sure it was functional and looked good. It is obvious that they take pride in their work. It is refreshing in this day and age. As with any construction project, it lasted longer than predicted. However, it was only as much time as needed to have the project done well and to high standards. Third, they worked within our budget. Our repair/remodel was caused by a water leak while we were on vacation. It was devastating. The insurance company, was tough to work with. Trying not to cover certain damage. Tony was open and honest with this approach with us, and the insurance company. He spoke directly with the insurance company and with additional submittals was able to get them to cover a large percentage of the damage. This was because of his tenacity and calm manner in dealing with them. His financial costs were on par with "going rate." This gave us peace of mind and allowed us to focus more on the repair and not the insurance costs."

He came into a job that had been royally screwed up by a prior contractor (see review of Stevenson & Sons). He thoroughly inspected the property, prepared a detailed bid, gave us advice on the most important items and delivered a bid that could work with our budget and the existing lender requirements. His entire crew were professional and consciencious. Devin delivered on time, on budget with high quality work. He kept us informed throughout the process. The portico he built is frequently the subject of compliments by our neighbors (and people just driving by). We will use Devin to continue improving our home. "Lux Renovations did an excellent job in remodeling my basement. David Guimares, together with Louis Villegas, did a very timely and professional job with installing an Owens Corning basement. They were very easy and courteous to work with and provided key input when needed for HVAC considerations. They worked well with coordinating electrical work and getting required town inspections done in a timely manner. In addition, David provided good suggestions to enhance our finished basement plans prior to starting the work, including how we may be able to reroute some plumbing to enhance our celling height.
