"We initially retained Martin to redo the kitchen, and we chose him because of price, flexibility and lack of hassle. Martin did all the carpentry work for the kitchen remodel, including plumbing the walls and fixing a termite-damaged floor beam, and he also did all the plumbing work. Work was done very well. Because of the good work, we then asked Martin to remodel a bathroom, and that was done very well, and included tile installation, new piping etc. That went very well. The prior work held out, and so we asked Martin to replace the roof. That roof work was done very well also. On the first day, Martin had about 10 people working on the shingle-part of the roof work to make sure that work was done before rains came. A following day his people did the flat part of the roof. We have now had some heavy rains, and I checked and everything is fine. No damage to the guttering system. So, very happy and would recommend."

"It was done in the promised amount of time of 4 weeks. There was a bit of a delay with the township. The workers did outstanding work, the decks they have done in my neighborhood are by far the most beautiful. Everything I requested at the beginning was honored and they came up with a few additional great ideas. I requested that the price not change and it did not. My son was having a deck done at the same time and took pictures so his contractor would model his after my deck. I am very pleased with the outcome and would use them again."

"So, as mentioned before, I did end up sourcing my vanity top and vanity elsewhere. I ended up getting Home Depot to do both. (Hope Depot outsourced to other contractors of course.) The price and quality from Home Depot was better than my other choices. But this review is about First State, so let me return to talking about them. First State was perfect in everything they did. * The sales process was very smooth and responsive. * They had a bit of backlog, so I had to wait a bit, but they were very communicative throughout the process and scheduling was more than satisfactory. * They were extremely flexible with dealing with my external vendor (for the vanity top installation). They were VERY accommodating and appreciated it. * They did high quality work. On all parts: tub work, tile work, plumbing work, vanity work. As well as in keeping disruption to a minimum and professionalism. * They were very communicative and responsive about when they would show up, what work would happen when, and dealing with the whole process. * They went above and beyond on several minor things that were not in the contract."

"I would rate as an A, but unfortunately feel that I was mislead and oversold by the sales person in a few areas. I received conflicting information over whether I would need an additional electrical outlet for sump pump (I do). He also mentioned there would be cleanup activity performed around the edges of the egress window (it was not). Lastly, I feel I was oversold on the sump pump as it seems significantly more powerful than what is needed. It should not surprise me as sales is intended to upsell as much as possible and I went along with it, so this is more my own fault than theirs, but figured worth noting for the benefit of future customers when all the extra bells and whistles are being pushed on you. Outside of this, quality of work that was performed seems good, working crew was polite and courteous."
