"Elite remodeling did an amazing job on my mother's DC home. They performed a complete interior and exterior remodel - all bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, living and dining room, hardwood floors, front and back porch remodel. In addition, they installed all the appliances - kitchen and laundry appliances. They worked efficiently, professionally, and resolved any issues that were unknown to me. I would highly recommend them for any job- in particular in the DMV area. They are One stop shop - capable of resolving Plumbing, electrical, and carpentry and construction issues. They are professional and trustworthy. Once again, I highly, highly recommend them. Diane M. Benjamin (DC Home Owner)"

"We selected DMV based on our previous experience with the company starting with Rolando who successfully remodeled our kitchen and 3 baths back in 2015 and with Javier in remodeling of 1 bathroom, construction of an outdoor shed, and finally remodeling of our 1st and 2nd floors. For details on this more recent 2022 project consult my review elsewhere on Anji. . The construction area consisted of two sides of the basement--the “finished” side for an office *** guest room plus a small hallway; the other, a larger “unfinished” side for storage. The project began by moving everything in the small hallway to other parts of the house. Then they cleared what would be the “finished” side of the basement moving the sofa bed, several desks, 3 bookcases, a couple office chairs, a table, several bookcases, 7 file cabinets, clothes and other items from the closet, and numerous boxes of books plus files removed from file cabinets to the other side of the basement or, when necessary, to other parts of the house, outdoor shed, and garage while they worked on the “finished” side. Some of the items in the “unfinished” side had to be moved out of the basement to another part of the house to make room for heavier items that could not be lugged upstairs without breaking someone’s back. Two more file cabinets that I had not yet emptied they moved on a dolly to the other side of the basement. I regretted having emptied the 7 other file cabinets so that even more boxes with file contents had to be carefully labelled and moved to the other side. That was my fault! It was a complex undertaking since we were adding to what was already stored on the “unfinished” side, but the men were creative, cooperative, and experienced in meeting the challenge with us. The work began on the “finished” side and small hallway with demolition of the existing ceiling and lighting. Once the men cleaned up that mess they installed electrical cabling, wood, and drywall for the ceiling. They repaired the 2 feet of drywall around the bottom perimeter of the wall. Once the basic structure was in place they applied 2 coats of plaster to the walls and ceiling, and then sanded them. They taped the corners and joints. Following our selection of paint, they applied primer on the walls and ceiling, sanded, and then applied 2 coats of off-white paint to the walls and ceiling. What a beautiful transformation of the walls! To prepare for the installation of the luxury vinyl tile floor planks on the “finished” side and hallway they evened out the existing concrete with additional concrete. They lay the beautiful, brownish-gray floor planks on the concrete floor. Javier convinced us that the brownish-gray would be a good selection and he was right. Then the men installed baseboards and shoe molding around walls of the finished side and hallway. At some point they installed 8 recessed lights. What amazing acoustics in that room while it was still empty! In the latter phase of the “finished” side Alvaro repaired, sanded, and painted the stairway and lay the luxury vinyl tile floor planks to the stairs. To match the stairway, he sanded and stained the stair railing to match the stairs. He also repaired, sanded, and painted the walls off-white on either side of the stairway and the ceiling. Finally he painted the door separating the basement and kitchen. What a major transformation of that stairway! We were so pleased with the results! In the next phase of the project we transferred our attention to the “unfinished” side. After covering all the furniture, boxes, etc. with plastic they installed electrical cabling, wood, and dry wall on the ceiling. Then they applied plaster to the ceiling, sanded it, primed and painted it with 2 coats of paint. Then they installed 11 recessed lights to what previously was a deep, dark dungeon. When that major work was completed and the plastic removed, they vacuumed the area as best they could and moved the furniture and some of the boxes and bins back to the “finished” side. After a gap in construction Alvaro installed four heavy-duty, industrial-welded, steel storage units with adjustable shelves along the walls of the “unfinished” side of the basement so we didn’t have to worry about flimsy shelves collapsing with the weight of heavy boxes and plastic bins. Gradually we filled the shelves and file cabinets, moving some items temporarily stored in other parts of the house back to the basement. Alvaro (?) also installed a steel storage unit at one end of the garage to hold our daughters’ heavy boxes, some of which had been moved out of the basement and were collapsing with the weight of far too many boxes stacked on each other. Thanks to Javier for that creative solution to the problem! The DMV workmen did some additional jobs not directly related to repairing and painting walls and ceilings, installing hardwood/vinyl floors and lighting in the basement. Once the major work was done in the basement they went upstairs and moved some of the remaining displaced items to other parts of the house, garage, and shed. They installed a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector, secured 2 bookcases to the wall, installed 3 transition pieces on the floors beneath the doorways, and installed 3 dimmers for the lights. After completing most of the work in the basement they performed extra tasks not listed in the contract upstairs, tasks like tightening the screws in a door that would not close, installing a toilet seat, repairing a knob on one of our utility closets, and moving an office chair in the family room to the garage for goodwill. Fabio installed 4 internet connections: 2 in the basement, 1 in the family room on the ground floor, and 1 in the den on the second floor. Finally my husband and I could use our computers! Then when all was said and done the men installed dimmers swept and cleaned the two sides of the basement and hallway one last time. Muchas gracias to Alex and Wilmer for doing most of the moving, cleaning, and trash collection, to Alvaro and Cesar for doing the construction including installation of the shelving units, to Fabio for installing the 4 internet connections, and to Orlando and Jose for wrapping things up at the end. Bon trabajo! The quality of materials and workmanship on the basement remodeling was exceptional as we have come to expect of this company. And because we are an elderly couple we really appreciated the extra help in moving things around in the basement and around the house. The workmen were reliable, polite, honest, skilled, hardworking, and flexible in adjusting to additions and changes from time to time. They always took extra care to clean up at the end of the day and to pick up trash as it was collected. The price seems reasonable given the extra work not previously budgeted. Javier was great at planning, communicating, and allowing for extra time when we needed it to make decisions on where to put things or to do some of the moving ourselves, but he could certainly have benefited from having a right-hand man to assist him when he was not immediately available. We would highly recommend DMV for home remodeling projects. We selected DMV based on our previous experience with the company starting with Rolando who successfully remodeled our kitchen and 3 baths back in 2015 and with Javier in remodeling of 1 bathroom, construction of an outdoor shed, and finally remodeling of our 1st and 2nd floors. "I highly recommend City Renovations and Remodeling to new and experienced homeowners and investors. In fact, Mike Wiggs, owner of the company, was highly recommended to me from a trusted source. Mike has been my designer, general contractor and project manager for over three years. He and his team of subcontractors for all the trades and handymen have successfully completed numerous projects for me. The internal big jobs included Mike and his team remodeling my basement into a permitted apartment with an egress window, injection well system, and recessed lighting; remodeling my kitchen into a larger space, better layout and upgraded appliances, cabinets, backsplashes (e.g., switching from an electric cooktop island to a slide-in gas range and installing a peninsula); changing the location of the sliding door and a set of windows in my sunroom for better flow and sightline from the front door entry to the patio door leading to my wooded backyard; replacing the damaged one of the two HVAC systems (i.e., one for the first floor and basement and the other for the second floor); and whole house interior painting and decorative touches (accent walls, trim, etc.) The external big jobs included Mike and his team resolving the sources of severe water damage to my two-story front door entry area and installing a new door, side lites and stoop. He resolved other water problems at my house by installing upgraded, larger gutters connecting to a new underground drainage system, and re-grading a section of the backyard next to my house in order to better collect water coming onto the house and move it away from the house. The other jobs Mike and his team completed include installing decorative lighting in the front of my house and security lighting at the sides and back; installing and repairing wooden privacy fencing in my backyard; washing away years of mold, mildew and stains from the siding of my house; and installing shelving for two closets and the laundry room to increase my storage space. After years of City Renovations and Remodeling successfully improving or repairing my home, I hired the company to help me with an investment rental property. Mike completed a walk-thru assessment and report to supplement the information from the home inspector and appraiser. Through my pre-purchase consultation with Mike, I got a good idea of what it would take improve the property given my goals and budget. I look forward to working with Mike and his team to renovate the property."

"This company is wonderful. The project manager, Jason, and his crew were amazing. They turned a tiny bathroom and tiny room into a large, gorgeous, elegant bathroom. I used this company for two other bathroom remodels. Be sure you get Jason if you want a professional and efficient team."

"Melvin and his crew are outstanding! I was amazed by his skills, professionalism, honesty and care. I reached out to him desperately on a Sunday, after the first person I hired did not come with the proper equipment to paint the interior of my home. Melvin came out to do the job THE SAME DAY. I gave him more to do when I realized he had a broader skill set. He wrapped up the entire project: painting, lighting, cabinetry AND custom shelves in two days. I will definitely hire him again as I map out other home improvements projects I’ve got left to do."

"Excellent service. My project started with a kitchen remodel, and when I saw how professional the team was and the outstanding and the meticulous work, I asked them to help with other projects. So I had them do a partial basement remodel, and then repairs to the outside steps. More work coming your way LFC. THANK YOU!"

"Devin and his wonderful crew are in the process of doing all of the remodeling work listed above, but I am so impressed with them I wanted to get some of this down now.
In mid-April/late May, I found evidence that there was a mouse in my house (ewww), and despite my best efforts, and hiring Orkin (I'll review them, too), I could never find/capture the darn thing. So, I decided I was going to hire a contractor to come "mouse-proof" my house, and while I was at it, I was going to create the kitchen/dining room, laundry room and bathroom I wanted. Just like we are taught, I selected 3 contractors to come and discuss the work I wanted done and to get estimates. One never showed, even though he made an appointment, one told me why I couldn't do the work I wanted done, and then there was Devin.
From the first time I spoke with Devin (first in email, then on the phone, then in person), I knew we would work well together. He never told me I *couldn't* do any of the things I wanted done, but he gave me a realistic idea of how much it was going to cost me. Then, he did a walkthrough of the house, and not only did he help me put my ideas into a realistic framework, he went the extra mile and went into my crawl space and found some structural damage that had to be repaired before any of the remodeling could be done. He was honest with me about how much the work would cost, and he and the guys have already improved the feel of the whole house by repairing the support structure on the house. Before Devin and his crew got to work, the floor slanted in places, and now the floor is completely level. The one other contractor that came to look at the house (and told me my remodel ideas were wrong), didn't even look at the support beams or the crawl space.
Once we had the price range set, he brought in a wonderful, patient, architect who drew up such good plans that I could actually visualize what my new space would look like, and then brought in an interior designer to help with the cabinets, appliances and look of the place.
Devin and his crew have been working on the house for a couple weeks now, and every time I go to look at it (I did mention that they are re-doing the bathroom, right?) there is something new and wonderful to see. One of the best things about the work is that they are cleaning up as they go. In fact, they built a wall between where they are doing the major work and where I was still living in the house (until the bathroom got gone) so that no dust or debris was in the living areas of the house. And, once I moved out due to lack of "facilities", they taped off my rooms to keep the dust out while they installed the lighting and while they worked on the bathroom.
The bottom line is, just based on the work that's been done so far, I would recommend Marvell Homes LLC to anyone who is looking to upgrade their home.
I'll update this review (hopefully with pictures) when the work is done.

****************************
So, the work is done, and I love my house! Life got in the way, and I couldn't get to this update as quickly as I wanted to, but I couldn't *not* finish this review.

The remodel came out better than I had ever hoped, and I *love* my new spaces! Devin and the guys turned my dinky little cramped house into a home I'm proud of. And he did it all within the budget he originally quoted me. Not only that, but he came back and fixed the one minor problem that cropped up after the job was done! Who *does* that these days?

I was so pleased with the work Devin and the guys did on the public rooms of the house, I've already started saving to have them work their magic on the bedrooms, and I wouldn't even *think* of using another contractor for anything I need done."

"We had a abasement apartment that was a Mess... Krause Construction came in and gutted our bathroom and kitchen. Redesigned both . Redid all the plumbing and electrical. Put a pocket door going into the bathroom which worked out great. Put new flooring in all rooms. We had them put a barn door going into the play room. Great job I love it. They put 5 new windows in the apartment. Painted all walls. Also redid my so called laundry room. Now it looks like a laundry room. Yea! New walls and floor. Krause Construction did an excellent job. My husband and I love the crew they were great guys. Not only was the work excellent but they kept us informed of what they were doing. When they started we said take your time. BUT my husband and I had someone special to us coming into town and asked if we could have the apartment done a lot sooner. Well Mike and Robert said they would do the best they could to have it done. They Did It... We would definitely refer Krause Construction to everyone. Thank you, Larry & Sherry W."

"Mahati came to our house to redo our shower, put down flooring, install a new toilet and set a vanity. He was punctual every day and the first day he set up coverings on our floor. Every day he cleaned up all his tools and materials. Mahati’s work is excellent and asked us if he needed to know how we wanted something to look. We are extremely happy with our new bathroom and will recommend this company to anyone looking to have their bathroom remodeled. We are giving Renken Remodeling a well deserved 5 star rating."
