"They were just extremely professional and very very good. I did have a problem during the year with an adjustment for summer and winter for upstairs. They came out and they had already put a bracket in to adjust for summer and winter that I didn't know about and didn't understand. They went beyond what they needed to do. They came out and showed me. It took 10 minutes and I was able to change my heating and air upstairs. I would recommend them to anybody."

"Our air conditioner is getting close to the age where it needs to be replaced, so it’s starting have problems. Right now Portland Area is enduring a heat wave (~90F), so of course, it broke down. John helped me last year so I called him. He responded ASAP. He quickly found the problem and fixed it. Now my dog and I are sitting in a cool house. John knows his stuff, is quite friendly, and very professional."

"Home Pro Heating and Air did an excellent job fixing my A/C. From the moment I called, they were professional, responsive, and straightforward. The technician arrived on time, diagnosed the issue quickly, and explained everything in a way I could understand. The repair was done efficiently, and my air conditioning has been running perfectly ever since. Their pricing was fair, and the level of service was outstanding. It’s rare to find a company that’s both honest and highly skilled, but Home Pro proved to be both. I’m extremely satisfied and would absolutely recommend them to anyone needing HVAC work."

"It went extremely well. Punctuality was perfect. Paying attention to details was perfect. Knowledge and professionalism were perfect. The price was competitive. We interviewed 5 different providers. Ultimately, Columbia seemed to stand out best. We tried it, and we were quite happy with the choice. The service cost was for two independent air conditioner systems ( we have a large, long house), and one new furnace."

Customers say: Quick response

"Tom was fantastic to work with. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Not only installed my AC (which is working great), but also cleaned out my furnace fan, and let me know about a leak under my house, that I was able to fix before I had to get a costly plumber involved! The electrical company he uses (Oakley) also did a great job with the electrical work. I can't recommend Tom enough!"

FAQs for air conditioning projects in Beaverton, OR

Most professional HVAC technicians require two to three hours to complete an expansion valve replacement. The timeframe depends on your unit's accessibility and whether additional repairs are needed. The process involves recovering refrigerant, removing the old valve, installing the new component, and recharging the system. Scheduling during less busy seasons may result in more convenient appointment times.

Operating your air conditioner with a malfunctioning expansion valve isn't advisable. Continuing to run the system could potentially damage other components, particularly your compressor, which is significantly more expensive to replace. If you notice performance issues like inconsistent cooling or unusual noises, it's best to have your system inspected before continuing regular use.

Expansion valves don't have a standard replacement schedule, as their longevity depends on system usage, maintenance frequency, and environmental factors. Regular professional maintenance helps identify potential valve issues before they cause system failure. Having your HVAC system serviced annually allows technicians to monitor component condition and recommend preventative replacements when necessary.

Refrigerant leaks require prompt professional attention. If your expansion valve is leaking, you'll likely notice reduced cooling performance and possibly hear hissing sounds near the unit. Addressing leaks quickly prevents further system inefficiency and avoids the environmental impact of released refrigerant. Your HVAC technician will need to repair the leak and recharge the system with the proper refrigerant type and amount.

Because many AC issues present similar symptoms, professional diagnosis is recommended. Problems like inadequate cooling, inconsistent temperatures, or strange noises could indicate expansion valve issues, but might also stem from refrigerant leaks, electrical problems, or airflow restrictions. A qualified HVAC technician has the tools and expertise to accurately identify the root cause and recommend appropriate repairs.
