"I contacted Miguel after having my heat pump serviced last month. I was expecting that the unit would be toast and I would be spending big bucks for a new unit. So he comes and notices a lot of things the last guy didn’t even check. He fixes it and I’m figuring I will get some more years out of my 18 yr old unit. He saved me a bunch of money. I will be having him do preventative maintenance from now on. Glad I found this guy. I’d upload pictures but it’s only a service call, not a new install. If you hire this guy, you will be happy."

"Hired Vance for heat repair, system wasn't blowing heated air? Turns out installer didn't wire it properly, and unit itself was ok. They had my heat blowing for less than $75. Highly recommend Vance. Don't hesitate to call them, they're trustworthy, returned my call quickly, all at a value."

"My 20 year old furnace died on a cold Thursday evening and I got online to find a company to replace it. After entering my contact info, I immediately received a text message from the company's owner, Casey, making himself available for me if I wanted to talk by phone. I had him call me, and he checked in to see what the problem was, what I wanted to do, and to be sure I had heat for the evening. He even offered to drive space heaters to my home if needed, even though he was at least 45 minutes away. He then scheduled to meet with me at my convenience the next day to look at my home and discuss options. During the meeting, Casey was very personable, knowledgeable, and professional about the products and services his company offered and helped me design a heating/air conditioning system to replace my old, inefficient furnace and wall a/c and insulate existing ducts. He also referred me to my utility company to see if rebates were available, which there were. The workers who installed the products were pleasant, professional, and skilled and ensured that their work met the city's requirements so that I was eligible for the rebate. I am very happy with the products and services I received from them and would recommend them to anyone having problems with their heating/air conditioning units or looking to upgrade to more efficient systems.

FAQs for air conditioning projects in Selah, WA

Most professional HVAC technicians require two to three hours to complete an expansion valve replacement. The timeframe depends on your unit's accessibility and whether additional repairs are needed. The process involves recovering refrigerant, removing the old valve, installing the new component, and recharging the system. Scheduling during less busy seasons may result in more convenient appointment times.

Operating your air conditioner with a malfunctioning expansion valve isn't advisable. Continuing to run the system could potentially damage other components, particularly your compressor, which is significantly more expensive to replace. If you notice performance issues like inconsistent cooling or unusual noises, it's best to have your system inspected before continuing regular use.

Expansion valves don't have a standard replacement schedule, as their longevity depends on system usage, maintenance frequency, and environmental factors. Regular professional maintenance helps identify potential valve issues before they cause system failure. Having your HVAC system serviced annually allows technicians to monitor component condition and recommend preventative replacements when necessary.

Refrigerant leaks require prompt professional attention. If your expansion valve is leaking, you'll likely notice reduced cooling performance and possibly hear hissing sounds near the unit. Addressing leaks quickly prevents further system inefficiency and avoids the environmental impact of released refrigerant. Your HVAC technician will need to repair the leak and recharge the system with the proper refrigerant type and amount.

Because many AC issues present similar symptoms, professional diagnosis is recommended. Problems like inadequate cooling, inconsistent temperatures, or strange noises could indicate expansion valve issues, but might also stem from refrigerant leaks, electrical problems, or airflow restrictions. A qualified HVAC technician has the tools and expertise to accurately identify the root cause and recommend appropriate repairs.
