Looking to start my own handyman service business/ if I know how to do it. Don’t know a lot of people to get my name out. So doing work for home owners that are in need of something done would be a great way to get my name/business going

"Our dryer was running but not heating up. We found Alstate on Angie's List and called them Monday morning. We called before they were open, so their answering service took a message. They called us back the same morning and scheduled a service call for Tuesday evening between 5:00 and 7:00. They gave us a $25.00 discount for being Angie's List members. They showed up and diagnosed the problem as a malfunctioning control board. They do not carry the part, so they had to order it. They worked with us to allow us time to decide if we wanted to repair the dryer or replace it. They told us to give them a call if we wanted them to order the part. They were very professional, and did not pressure us to make a decision. We decided to go ahead with the repair, so we called them the following morning. They ordered the part, which arrived by Friday. They returned Friday morning and completed the repair. They were up-front about how much everything would cost, and they charged exactly what they said they would. We will definitely use them again if we need another appliance repair.

"To be fair, the Appliance Installer guys did a great job on installing a new rigid duct for my dryer. However, I needed to have them come out a few more times to help fix the original problem which was that the dryer was not drying my clothes like it used to. They replaced at least one part that didn't actually need to be replaced and didn't fix the problem. In the end, I hired a Maytag certified repair person who finally properly diagnosed the drying problem and fixed it. It's just too bad that it took three different technicians and over $500 total to get the problem completely resolved."

"Excellent. It started with the phone call to Aaron. He took the time over the phone to thoroughly explain what they would do and pricing. This made me feel very comfortable. I asked why there are so many cheaper deals out there and he explained nicely that some might not be legitimate deals so he suggested I use caution. The cleaners Mickey and Eric were great. They called 30 minutes before they were to come at 9AM. Showed up a few minutes early, started on time and finished before the estimated time. (9am to 12pm since we have no basement but a 2 story). They reviewed the pricing and what the total would be before they got started. Very polite, professional, funny and cleaned up so you could not notice they were here. They explained procedures along the way. They even took all the equipement outside once they were done to load later because at 12 I had a phone conference. This way it would not be noisy. I can see why they work for this company and are keepers. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to everyone. Thanks guys!

"James did a fabulous job. I would hire him again--and plan to! He helped us design an upgrade of our kitchen island. He kept us in the realm of possible and affordable while providing showcase end product. We wanted classy and quality, without breaking the bank. The island had appliances from the original construction (circa 1985) and James was even able to convert a down draft vent to updraft with a sleek contemporary glass range hood. I knew what was happening every step of the way and he kept in contact with me the entire time. I've shown a few friends and colleagues pictures and they had the exact same comment, "That looks like a magazine photo!" James did a great job and I'd recommend him to anyone."

Yes, buying appliances in a bundle can save you money and reduce the cost per unit. Retailers often offer discounts when you purchase three or more appliances from the same brand together. This approach not only lowers your appliance expenses but also simplifies installation coordination, providing financial and scheduling benefits.
The best time to buy a new appliance is when your current one fails or during a renovation. Major shopping holidays like Black Friday and Labor Day offer seasonal sales with better discounts. Planning your purchase during these times helps you maximize savings and aligns with your home improvement plans.
When you buy a new appliance, many retailers will also remove and dispose of your old appliances when they come to install the new ones. To dispose of your old appliance yourself, start by safely disconnecting it. If it's no longer functional, you can recycle it. If it still operates safely, consider donating or selling it to recoup some value. Some retailers offer trade-in programs for discounts on new models. These options promote eco-friendly disposal and help reduce waste.
