Comment: We purchased a new property where the concrete basement floor is not finished. We are planning to have it carpeted but there is a problem with floor board situation along the exterior wall of the basement, which has arcadia doors leading outside. (It is not below ground on this side.) In addition to the wood baseboards, the builders put a 1x3 inch trim board laying flat against the outside wall baseboard to cover up two inches of the foundation which appears beside the baseboard. We would need the 1x3 trim piece and the baseboard removed and the baseboard re-installed before we have the carpet installed. It is approximately 36 feet of boards in two rooms. The builder told us that would be fine and not compromise any structure or carpet installation. This would allow the carpet to be installed normalled up against the baseboard on all four sides of the rooms.
