"I gutted my 1965 kitchen to the studs. J&M Plastering installed wallboard and skim coated my ceilings and walls. The results look like ice. Very smooth. The owner John was professional. I would recommend this Company."

Customers say: Terrific value
"Excellent, no problems, very professional and neat. Did a fine job, and was very careful about keeping area clean. He cleaned up after he was done and I was pleasantly surprised how little dust and dirt there was. My wife is a very clean person and she had no complaints. I would recommend him to a friend or relative."

"I am disappointed with this cleaning service that I tried because of Angie's List A+ reviews. I feel I did not receive the exact services that I was promised and that I paid for. Good news first: I had a wonderful initial meeting with Jason Tammelleo and a lovely in-house visit by the supervisor early on during the cleaning process before I was aware of any problems. Jason promised that the radiators would be cleaned, that the wooden floors would be cleaned with a Lysol solution, and agreed that the ceilings and walls would be cleaned using a vinegar/Dawn solution that I provided instead of TSP. After meeting with him, I was very hopeful of a good outcome. Bad news: First, I had to ask the bathroom cleaning person to re-do cleaning under the toothbrush holder that was caked with old toothpaste and grime. She had only wiped the top of it. The cleaners did not use Lysol mixture on the wooden floors as Jason told me, but used Murphy's oil soap which left a bit of a scum. Then when the cleaners were finished and getting ready to leave, I noticed all the radiators were still filthy and caked with dust and dander. I showed the lead cleaner and she said they couldn't clean the radiators because the mop head they had was too large to fit in the slats and they did not have any other tool they could use. Then they left. I had to go to Ace hardware and purchase a radiator brush and worked on the radiators myself until they were free of dust. I was upset that the cleaners arrived without the correct tool to do the job that I specifically requested, that was promised to me and that I paid for. Also, I found out after they had left, that the tops of ALL the window casings, doors, and french doors throughout the house were completely missed and had lots of dust and grime. Again, I had to clean these myself. The cleaning women themselves were very lovely and pleasant, so I gave them a tip, but overall was very disappointed that I did not receive the exact services that I was told I was getting and that I paid for."

"NE plastering restored my kitchen ceiling with a beautiful plaster ceiling. A pipe freeze destroyed the old ceiling, and I am extremely happy with Mr. Hernandez' work. There was further damage in the upstairs bath and now the new plaster walls are smooth and ready for paint and paper. I highly recommend this expert plasterer. Gérald Crôteau"

"Prompt response… very professional! I have been without a sink for two weeks, called a few companies and no follow up.. Tejadas was able to fit me in right away.. they were at my home on time and did a great job cutting my granite countertop and positioned my sink to get installed by the plumber… I would definitely hire them again for any future jobs"

"Tito was terrific. He responded to my request for handyman services in less than 24hrs - AND showed up at my home the morning he contacted regarding the work request. Tito installed 3 ceiling hooks (to hang indoor plants) which was my original request. After he arrived, he was very accommodating and allowed me to add on some additional services - installation of 2 outdoor plant hangers as well as a replacement bidet for the toilet. The price for the plant hangers were very reasonable. The cost for installation of the bidet seemed a bit high since there was already one there and I've done one at my father's - it's pretty straight forward but I dont have the time to do my own. However, I was ok with that since he responded to me and arrived to do the work so quickly - as well as his flexibility to accommodate my additional requests. I'm very grateful to Tito and will definitely be calling on him again when I need help around the house. THANKS TITO!! ?"

Ask the following questions to make sure you know what’s involved and that you’ve hired a good team:
Is your company licensed, bonded, and insured?
What is the best tile size for my project?
What fire rating do my ceiling tiles need?
How long will it take to install the drop ceiling?
What is the height of the finished drop ceiling?
Most residential building codes require a minimum ceiling height of 7.5 feet from the floor to the finished drop ceiling, ensuring adequate headroom and safety compliance. Since requirements can vary by location, consult your local code enforcement office or a professional installer to confirm the specific clearance needed for your project.
Installing a drop ceiling results in a loss of ceiling height ranging from 3 inches to 8 inches. The exact amount depends on factors like the size of the fixtures above, such as ductwork or lighting, and the manufacturer's recommendations for installation. Local building codes also dictate minimum ceiling heights, so it's important to consult with a professional installer to determine the optimal drop distance for your specific space.
Installing drywall costs between $1.50 and $3 per square foot for materials, labor, and finishing—significantly less than the $9 to $13 per square foot average for a drop ceiling. While drop ceilings come with a higher initial cost, they offer greater design flexibility, easy access to utility lines, and are simpler and less expensive to repair. To minimize expenses, consider budget-friendly fiberboard panels, though their appearance may be less appealing to some homeowners.
Drop ceilings offer several advantages and disadvantages.
Pros:
Easy to install and repair
Conceal stains, ductwork, and other unsightly elements
Provide quick access to ducts and wiring for maintenance
Available in various styles to suit your design preferences
Cons:
Reduce ceiling height
Tiles may require replacement after a few years
Less sturdy than traditional ceilings
Installation can be more time-consuming than drywall
Removing a drop ceiling costs between $2 and $7 per square foot, which includes disassembling the rail system and removing tiles. Factors such as ceiling size, accessibility, and disposal fees affect the total cost. If you're removing a drywall ceiling, expect costs of $2 to $4 per square foot. Hiring a professional ensures safe removal and proper disposal, preventing damage to underlying structures.
