"Dario and his crew were nothing short of responsive, kind, professional, expert craftsmen in what they do, and did it all for a fair competitive price compared to the near 10 other quotes we got in the greater Asheville area for our painting and drywall repair project. We needed ceiling drywall repair, popcorn texture removal, and priming and painting done to all ceilings in our 1300 square ft home and Dario’s team got on it quickly for us. The ceilings look immaculate and Dario and his crew will be the only folks we use from here on out for any drywall and painting needs! Not only did they do the job we hired them for so well they touched up our walls too! Yes they’re that good - hire them!"

"If you are looking for a professional painting company, I would without hesitation recommend (Dario) of Custom Painting of Asheville. I have hired Dario and his team many times to paint our homes interior, remove popcorn from the ceilings and to stain our exterior decks. With every project we were extremely pleased with the company's quality and professionalism. His crew always worked together as a team to get the job accomplished in a timely manner with beautiful results. Bill Smoak"

"I felt that the scope of work was explained to me in a way that I felt educated about how the repairs would safeguard my mother's home. There was a roof leak that required immediate attention as well as drywall replacement for the wet ceiling. They were very fast to communicate by phone. I appreciate their transparency about long term effects and timelines. I would absolutely hire A Step Above for other projects at my mom's house."

"We had roof damage and our deck was destroyed during the hurricane. TG came in and fixed the roof plus tore out the old deck and replaced it...plus an addition to the deck and build a new roof for the deck. Wonderful work, very nice to work with and did not try to charge and outrageous amount. Would recommend to anyone. Thanks for a great experience!"

"George with Roesner Construction responded quickly to both our request and with an estimate. He completed both our initial project and some additional projects in a timely fashion. He did a great job with the drywall repair and the painting. We will keep him on our list of folks to call when we need work in the future!"

"Jesùs and his team are great workers. They work quickly and do a very professional job. The walls are smooth and they even did a primer coat so it was easier when we painted. They keep a clean work site and stay in contact about pricing and any questions. We have worked with this company more than once and even referred them to friends in our neighborhood. I would trust them to do work in our home anytime. They have done framing, trim carpentry, and installation of doors and rails as well as painting and drywall work."

A drop ceiling is a type of secondary ceiling that is dropped down below the actual ceiling of a room, hence the name. It’s made up of ceiling tiles (made of fiberboard, foam, wood, metal, or plastic) supported by a metal grid. The space between the drop ceiling and the structural ceiling can be used to hide wiring, pipes, and HVAC ducts.
Most drop ceiling installations take about two to three days, including the time needed to build the grid frame, install it, and place each ceiling tile properly. Your installation might take more time if you need to modify plumbing, HVAC ducts, or electrical wiring to accommodate the new ceiling.
Most drop ceilings require a clearance of at least three inches from the structural ceiling, though you’ll likely need more than that to make space for pipes, ducts, lights, fans, sprinklers, or wiring. In many places, building codes require a minimum ceiling height of seven feet, which can limit the amount of clearance you’ll have between your drop ceiling and structural ceiling.
Yes, you can paint a drop ceiling, but it’s not always recommended. Painting a drop ceiling can sometimes void your warranty because using improper paint or technique can cause the tiles to sag. Paint can also negatively affect the fire resistance, soundproofing, and light reflection of the panels. Consider these downsides before taking on ceiling painting costs.
