"We highly recommend AFS for waterproofing a crawlspace. AFS encapsulated our crawlspace on our new construction home and installed a sump pump and dehumidifier in the crawlspace. The install crew (Tim - Foreman, Trent, CJ and John) was very prompt, courteous and professional. They explained everything about their work, and thoroughly cleaned up the worksite. Tim returned a few days later to finish up after our electrical outlets were installed and to make sure everything was working properly. Our salesman Reid was also excellent to work with. He explained everything in detail and answered all of our questions."

"They exceeded my expectations in EVERY regard! I bought a new home in Tellico Village 4 months prior to moving from NJ. I wanted my garage floors epoxy coated before moving in, so the work had to be done while I was away. I needed a firm I could trust with unsupervised access to my garages as well as to do the job right. I chose East TN Concrete Coloring after extensive research of reviews and BBB ratings. After meeting Jim I felt I could trust them with the remotes to my garages and that they would do the best work. They offered a competitive price and, more importantly, a strong sense of trustworthiness. I could not have made a better choice. The floors look fabulous, they kept me advised every step throughout the process, they repaired chips in the underlying concrete floor, and they safe-guarded my premises. AND, Jim and company are just great people to deal with. I could not have made a better, or even as good a choice as these folks."

"Eric and Mike had great ideas and worked diligently. The project consisted of putting trex decking above concrete, vinyl siding on an outdoor overhang, and replacing dated vinyl siding on a solarium and gable with hardie board. The finished result was terrific."

"Alfredo and company did a great job repairing our brick porch! The brick and mortar was crumbling and they fixed it perfectly. They also did a great job cleaning up. Would definitely recommend!"
Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.
Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.
Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.
An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
