"SEE REVISED NOTES BELOW in CAPS......I had Always replace my front steps, walkway and double wide driveway. The crew did a fine job deconstructing everything and hauling away debris, there concrete work was very good, clean lines, nicely broomed surface, ...but am concerned about a section of the driveway concrete because the second mixer (leForge Jessup) was late requiring the crew to rush and overwork the concrete before it dried. Not really ALWAYS fault but it is a concern. The finishers covered my water shut off valve cover with a thin layer of concrete, easy to remedy....., but most disturbing was the clean up crew filled the ground gaps with excavation material (red clay, concrete debris, and rocks), no real fill dirt.. They left many of the concrete form stakes in and just covered them up. This I had to remedy myself with real fill dirt and reseed, uncover the valve cover, etc... REVISED.....MR. JAMES ALWAYS HAS BEEN VERY RESPONSIVE TO MY ABOVE CONCERNS AND HAS MOVED TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT FOR ME. GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. HAVE RECOMMENDED HIM TO OTHERS."

"Very professional! The two people that did the concrete raising were very helpful. Big shout out to Brian and Austin out of the Bristow location. Pricy, but foundation work is sometimes unavoidable."

"Valle concrete contractors finished my project on time and on budget. After many failed attempts with other contractors, these guys were up to the task of building out a concrete pad and pavilion. Our family is very happy with the end results and their communication throughout the build. Will be keeping these guys in mind for future projects!"

"First I must say we used Mickey's initially to install a driveway a few years back, and we were pleased with the results. Recently, Mickey's Asphalt was in the neighborhood doings asphalt work for other neighbors. One Saturday we received a knock on the door to see if we would like to have our driveway seal coated for $250.00. The price seemed reasonable, and we were pleased with their past work of our driveway installation, so we decided to get it done. The seal coat application was done within minutes. We were told to stay off the driveway for 24 hours. After the twenty four hours, the driveway looked wet and the tar topcoat was extremely tacky. So Sunday late afternoon we called the provider to see if they could provide information of why the driveway was not dry. Didn't hear back. On Monday evening thinking the driveway would be dry after 48 hours, my husband returned from work and parked on the driveway and left slight tire mark impressions. We called the office on Tuesday afternoon. The receptionist said she knew we called and said they had tried to call us back, but no message was left.( We have caller I.D., and I check my call log as well.) She said she would have someone call within the half hour. We waited two hours and called again, this time the receptionist got the one of the gentlemen who applied the seal coating. I explained now it was 72 hours later, the driveway was extremely tacky, and asked what could we do. They said they would come out the next morning and take a look.. They did come by the next morning, and they didn't seem too bothered by the marks left, and really couldn't explain why it still was not dry. They said they would stop around on Saturday and retouch the marks that were made. They never stopped back. The driveway took at least four more days to dry. We were disappointed they couldn't call back, provide answers, or stop back when they said they would.

Small jobs welcome

"The service was great. I wanted to add concrete to the front of the house and also extend the front porch a couple of feet. He gave me some recommendations around the new sidewalk we needed, and we decided to follow his recommendation. We also extended the driveway to the side to give us a little more space for the vehicles. Rene explained the process, gave visuals on how the end result would appear. His service was fantastic and I already plan to ask him back for another project in the backyard."

FAQs for concrete work projects in Little Orleans, MD

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.

Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.

Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.

An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
