"David and his crew replaced my front slate/river rock walkway with beautiful, wood-looking stamped concrete, far exceeding what I had anticipated. A group of 5-6 skilled professionals produced a flawless, solid foot path that an Orlando friend of mine noted, “You brought the beach to Asheville,” (I had lived beachside in FL, and to my delight it does look a bit like a beach crossover). David refers to himself as a ‘concrete nerd’. I don’t think I’ve ever met one, but this term should serve as well-deserved flattery that he and his workers can enjoy. They’re a superior group with a superior company. Presently, I’m in the process of booking them for another home improvement project."

"This Company, headed by Patrick Stollenmair, did another fine job. Patrick is knowledgeable and easy to engage. He has a terrific crew which did the work in a most efficient manner. Price is fair. And, their repair work after digging was superior. This is one fine Company. Second time we have needed them this year. Both efforts were outstanding."

"Our old 1940s house foundation needed some serious repairs. Water had been infiltrating the crawl space from rain and ground water for many years. Girder beams and support posts were slowly rotting. A web search turned up some companies which I interviewed and got quotes from. The Sexton Brothers were heads above all with their punctuality, diligence in understanding the problems, clear presentation on the proposed work, and competitive pricing. They kept to schedules and even finished 2 days early. Wonderful! I would certainly recommend them to others and in fact am considering them for another project right now."

"Levi spent extra hours to make sure that the work he did was perfect. I would recommend him for all of your small concrete removal and pouring new concrete projects in the Asheville area. If it is not a large concrete project, larger companies will not send out a big concrete truck and will need to charge you a much higher minimum for their work."

"I worked with Zachary Daniel Concrete on a concrete polish job for a small commercial building I own. We had about 3000 sqft of concrete that was very dingey, and we wanted to brighten the space up to make it presentable to customers, along with ensuring it was a finish that had long-term durability. Zach was very knowledgeable, the team was conscientious, and the work looks amazing. I really appreciate how easy he was to get a hold of during the sales process as well. I have only great things to say about the whole experience. I highly recommend ZDC if you need concrete finishing work."

"I have relied on Gibson Construction for help in the past but my most recent request was to apply a sealant to our large, cement driveway. David responded promptly to my text, arrived on the job punctually, and applied the sealant in a professional manner. I believe this treatment will protect the concrete not only from daily wear-and-tear but also from the more harsh elements of snow, ice, and salt during the winter season. Also, I respect and am thankful for the time, effort, and product donated to the support of so many individuals devastated by Hurricane Helene. Thank you Gibson Construction. D. Jarvis"

FAQs for concrete work projects in Maggie Valley, NC

Figuring out how many bars you need isn’t a one-size-fits-all equation. A structural engineer or experienced concrete contractor will look at your slab’s thickness, the loads it must carry, and local code requirements, then run the numbers for you. That quick consultation protects your budget and keeps the finished slab safe, level, and up to code.

Match the metal to the job. For light, thin pours like a sidewalk, welded wire mesh often does the trick. Thicker slabs—driveways, garage floors, foundations—usually call for traditional steel bars. If your site sees salt, humidity, or coastal spray, spend the extra cash on galvanized or stainless steel to fend off rust and avoid future repairs. When in doubt, a concrete pro can confirm the best fit for your project and budget.

Stainless steel costs more up front, but the alloy can last 75 years or longer with little to no rust. That longevity means fewer repairs, less maintenance, and peace of mind for structures exposed to salt, moisture, or de-icing chemicals. If you’re pouring near the coast or in a humid climate, the extra dollars now can save you multiple replacements down the road.

An engineer will review the slab’s thickness, span, soil conditions, and expected loads, then specify bar size, spacing, and grade. Skipping that step or guessing can leave you with cracked concrete or a blown budget. For a modest consultation fee, a local engineer or contractor can do the math and hand you a rebar schedule that meets code and keeps your project on solid footing.
