"Anton did a very nice job cleaning and staining our log home. It had been neglected by the previous owner and needed a lot of work. He also replaced rotted siding on our barn, fixed some significant structural defects and stained it. A nice job and finished in a timely fashion. Anton was here supervising the job all the time. Would definitely hire again"

"We knew as soon as we met Stefan and Vilson that we wanted to hire them for our kitchen remodel. They understood our vision and were able to do a rough design and timeline on the spot which included opening up walls, moving/removing sliding doors and windows, removing a soffit, and cabinets/floors. They were extremely responsive with follow-ups, advising us in the permit process, recommendations for plumbing and electrical tradesmen, and material selection/design. They kept a VERY clean workspace, and took time each day to sweep, vacuum, wipe down, etc... They stayed on their estimated timeline and budget, even with a surprise beam needing to be installed and us taking some extra time to select countertops. Their attention to detail and pride in their work is evident in the end product, and we could not be happier with our new kitchen/living space. On a personal note we could not have asked for more polite, thoughtful, funny, positive people to have in our home for the 5 weeks of the project. We grew to know and love these guys, and looked forward to the warmth and energy they would being each day. I will definitely be reaching back out to them for future projects, and cannot recommend V&S enough. Call them! =)"

"Very well. The tech, Deshaun, arrived on time and performed the work in a way that minimized our stress and damage to the walls and tiling. Deshaun was very pleasant and we were more than pleased with his work. The price was reasonable and was set in advance of his starting work. We will definitely use D Rohde in the future."

"The porch is beautifully designed and Unique Construction did an amazing job of reconstructing the damaged sections to match the original details. We even had a neighbor (an architect) ask us who did the great work on our porch. David Nessel and his crew care about the quality of their work. They're true professionals and they were a absolute pleasure to work with."

"Angelo was the best. We had to go through a couple revisions of the plans because the bank's appraisal was much lower than we expected. Angelo, as well as Sam from Rhinebeck Kitchen and Bath, was so easygoing and responsive to our many questions. During the actual work, he kept in touch with us as to what work was being done as well as when. We never felt out of the loop. We were expecting dust and disruption for a full kitchen remodel, (gutted down to the wall studs), but Angelo did a great job of minimizing the dust and disruption. When the job was done, we could not have been happier. All of our friends have the same reaction the first time they see our new kitchen, "WOW!" We highly recommend Angelo and his crew who were all highly professional and pleasant to work with. So much so, that we had a party for all them when it was done."

Butcher block countertops come in three main styles, each offering a unique look and function. Flat grain, also known as face grain, showcases the natural wood patterns, giving your kitchen a modern and elegant appearance. Edge grain is made from long, narrow wood strips, making it sturdy and providing a consistent grain pattern. End grain features a checkerboard pattern that is highly durable and perfect for heavy food preparation. Each style caters to different aesthetic preferences and usage needs, enhancing your kitchen's look and functionality.
With proper care, wood countertops can last anywhere from 20 to 100 years. To keep yours looking like new, clean up spills immediately and reseal the surface regularly—ideally once a month in the first year, then twice a year after that. Regular maintenance helps preserve the wood's beauty and durability for decades.
Wood countertops aren't hard to maintain if you keep up with regular care. Simply clean them with mild soap and water after use and reseal them monthly during the first year (then twice a year afterward). Using a food-grade oil or sealant protects the wood from damage. With a bit of routine maintenance, your countertop will stay beautiful and durable.
Wood countertops are sanitary with proper care and maintenance. By sealing them with a food-grade sealant and cleaning them regularly with mild soap and water, you create a barrier that prevents bacteria from getting into the wood. Always dry the surface thoroughly after cleaning to keep it hygienic and safe for food prep.
It's best to oil raw wood countertops once a month during the first year. After that, you can oil them twice yearly to keep them in good shape. If your countertop is professionally stained or sealed, you might not need to oil it as often. Regular oiling helps prevent drying and cracking, preserving the wood's natural beauty and durability.
