"Daniel inspected the existing electrical issue (no 110v power behind new range) and offered options. After some discussion we chose his recommended solution and he completed the electrical system changes quickly. I was pleased by the quality, quick, professional work."

"I called Jake on short notice to repair an electrical outlet in the garage (which continually tripped). He came out even though it was late in the day. He diagnosed the problem and replaced the GFI outlet. Great service. I will be contacting Jake when I am back in town to perform additional work at the house."

"Dave is a great example of the consummate professional. He is punctual, knowledgeable, affable and efficient. He arrived early and called me 20 min beforehand to get the OK. He was very confident and skilled in his work. I cancelled the first company that contacted me after talking with Dave. And, I was relieved and glad I did. Incidentally, his charges were less expensive than the other company. He is my go to person for all things electrical."
In some states and municipalities, licensed and registered handypersons can change a light fixture and do minor electrical work. However, you should check with your state and local licensing boards before hiring a local handyperson. In most cases, it’s safer and more practical to hire an electrician for this job. It may cost more, but hiring a licensed electrician means they’ll get the work done to code.
Special light fixtures, known as damp-rated light fixtures, are recommended in bathrooms, particularly if they're near damp areas like showers and over the bathtub. However, in most locations, they’re not a strict requirement. For safety and longevity, damp-rated fixtures are a better choice. If you work with a lighting contractor in your area, they may be able to recommend the right kinds of fixtures for your space.
Yes, it’s possible to run a second light fixture to a switch, meaning the light switch would control more than one light fixture. Several factors can impact whether it’s possible and how much it will cost. In many cases, it may be easier and more affordable for the contractor to install independent light switches. Talk to your electrician about your idea to get their feedback.
