"TCK Land Service did a excellent job clearing my fence rows on my little farm. He gave me a very good price on the work he did. Tyler was on time and worked very well with what asked him to do. Would definitely get him back for my next project. Tyler told me he does other jobs also other than just land work. Very nice and polite young man."

"MD Excavation was very responsive, professional and very reasonably priced. They completed the job efficiently and took great care to ensure the customer was completely satisfied. I was so happy, I asked them about taking down a tree. They gave me quote and came the next day. Unbelievable service! I highly recommend Maryland Excavation."

"Call Armold & Son Excavation before anyone else. Amazing business integrity, experience, and heart. Mr. & Mrs. Armold saved me when they said Yes, at an affordable cost, after 3 other advertised plumbers said no. This was a monumental size job, while also being the smallest work space. 40 feet in length of concrete, brick, & marble slabs, covered the bad sewer line, by a width of slightly more than a wheelbarrow. Which translates into there isn't enough access for any machinery on my property. So Ron Armold did all of the manual labor from beginning to completion. Thanks again!"

"We were having several areas of our yard graded to get ready for large areas of flower beds and a Koi pond. My husband and I will be doing all the planting but it was just easier to have this part of the project done professionally. From our initial contact with Miller Services to when the project was complete was very satisfactory! Their price was competitive, their workers who came out to do the work were very courteous, on time and cleaned up all their mess when they were done (which is a huge pet peeve of mine). I would very much recommend the company and we do plan to use them for future work on our property."

FAQs for excavation projects in Blue Ridge Summit, PA

Depth depends on the type of installation and the regulations in your area. Water supply lines typically require 24 inches, while drainage pipes are often installed 36 inches below grade. For most general projects, a depth of 12 to 24 inches and a width of about eight inches is sufficient. Sticking to these specs keeps your utilities safe, code-compliant, and easier to maintain later.

When you need to run utilities underground, you’ve got two main options: boring or trenching. Boring employs directional drilling to install utilities without exposing a continuous channel, while trenching requires excavating an open channel to place utilities securely. Directional drilling preserves landscape integrity, whereas trenching provides direct access for installation, albeit with greater surface disruption. This clear comparison helps you select the method best suited to your project.

Plan on 12 hours to dig 100 linear feet when the soil is cooperative and you can work continuously. This timeframe applies when work is performed consistently and methodically. Factors such as rocky soil, tree roots, obstructions, and frozen ground increase the overall duration, demanding extra planning and effort. Comprehensive operational planning ensures that every challenge is managed efficiently and the project is completed on schedule.

If you want your yard to look untouched, laying fresh sod over the trench is the quickest fix. New sod needs 30 to 45 days to root and blend with the rest of your lawn. A local sod pro can provide you with a firm timeline and tips to ensure the grass takes hold and maintains your curb appeal.
