"Zach took an odd job for me to move 7 yards of river rocks for my landscaping. After working his day job he came to our house, brought a friend and literally worked until he could no longer lift the wheelbarrow. He came back the next day to finish and he made sure every stone was in place. He was super polite and did an excellent job. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone."

"The Team from DPH were awesome from the start. Michele with the getting us going from us reaching out for the need of cleaning up a lot of storm damage. Michele was great at getting us on the quote / review of what was needed. Dan stopped by and got a quote going / working on timing of getting at this work. Just a couple of hours later we had written quote and timing in place. This all took place on Wednesday afternoon. (6/24/26) Work began on Friday morning. (6/26/26) Dan Hicks and Richard Huntley went at working the 7 different areas of storm damage. During this time Dan reviewed the work of a very large walnut tree that was damage. Made some changes to his plan and got things scheduled for Saturday.(6/27/26) Saturday's work went very well, very safe and efficient to Dan's new plan. All this time Richard is just taking care of many of the other work items. Dan and Richard returned Sunday morning (6/28/26)to finish the clean up. The DPH Team attention to every detail was awesome!"

"The Wicked crew were amazing in helping us, we needed porch railing and handrails installed to be able to close on our house! We had less than 2 weeks and they jumped in and created the exact look we wanted! I cannot thank them enough! They will be my first call for all my construction needs!"

"Removal was efficient even though there was a lot more concrete below ground than expected. Made a trip to the hardware store for extra sand to fill in the hole and even hooked me up with a new hoop!"

"Kenneth Brothers' service was exceptional - they were communicative, prompt, professional, and did an excellent job. We hired Kenneth Brothers to remove several cubic yards of soil from a yard project we had done ourselves. They not only removed the soil from the side yard, but left the site in excellent condition, showing exceptional care for our lawn and garden. We highly recommend their services."

"I had River Rock replace and install a retaining wall all around my property as well as mulching, planting, and removal of trees/bushes. The crew was motivated, educated and seemed to really enjoy the work they were doing. I was very satisfied with their work, and am looking forward to future projects I have for them."

FAQs for excavation projects in Eaton Rapids, MI

Depth depends on the type of installation and the regulations in your area. Water supply lines typically require 24 inches, while drainage pipes are often installed 36 inches below grade. For most general projects, a depth of 12 to 24 inches and a width of about eight inches is sufficient. Sticking to these specs keeps your utilities safe, code-compliant, and easier to maintain later.

When you need to run utilities underground, you’ve got two main options: boring or trenching. Boring employs directional drilling to install utilities without exposing a continuous channel, while trenching requires excavating an open channel to place utilities securely. Directional drilling preserves landscape integrity, whereas trenching provides direct access for installation, albeit with greater surface disruption. This clear comparison helps you select the method best suited to your project.

Plan on 12 hours to dig 100 linear feet when the soil is cooperative and you can work continuously. This timeframe applies when work is performed consistently and methodically. Factors such as rocky soil, tree roots, obstructions, and frozen ground increase the overall duration, demanding extra planning and effort. Comprehensive operational planning ensures that every challenge is managed efficiently and the project is completed on schedule.

If you want your yard to look untouched, laying fresh sod over the trench is the quickest fix. New sod needs 30 to 45 days to root and blend with the rest of your lawn. A local sod pro can provide you with a firm timeline and tips to ensure the grass takes hold and maintains your curb appeal.
