"Mike, Stetson, and Matthew did such a great job communication the best I ever had with contractors. The tree removal and the stump removal were not easy. Stetson and his guy did an amazing job? the site was leveled, cleaned and all debris removed I seriously highly recommend the Travers company I look forward to using them again. Wish they could install insulation :) KDLxxxxxx 12/2024"

"ENTECH did an oil tank removal for me which is a multi step process with the town and EPA and heavy equipment. It was buried in my front lawn with plantings all around it and oil left in the tank. In the middle, covid 19 shut down the procedure for two months. They handled all the paperwork and headaches. They couldn t have done a more professional job. They did a perfect job of staging the excavation so there was no damage to lawn and plantings. They handled all the delays, rescheduling, and paperwork. They kept their very fair price. I think ENTECH is probably the best contractor I ever hired."

"John communicated very well during the whole job and always asked if we were happy. He has the skill and ability to do the level of detail a custom deck requires. He and his crew were always here when they said they would be and they finished the job on time. My new composite deck looks great and we would definitely hire this pro again. The neighbors watched what he can do and have also asked John to price their home improvement projects."

Customers say: Quick response

"We hired John Fougere after another recommended landscaper withdrew from the project at the planning stage. The lot of land is challenging with serious slopes. We had new construction going on, were new to Chatham, and didn't know who to rely on. We interviewed a few landscapers who made it sound like the task at hand was no big deal. John was the only one who advised he was interested but was honest about his upcoming schedule and noted he could work with us but we would have to be patient. We appreciated his honesty and hired him! Absolutely NO REGRETS! As promised, John tackled the job in stages and started with the areas that were most important to us. As our move in date approached, he concentrated on the things we needed to feel at home, like our patio and steps. John and his staff are professional, dedicated, talented, and most importantly, there is no doubt they take pride in their work. After conferring with us, John selected and planted trees and shrubs. He led his crew in creating two gorgeous patios, a front walkway and steps. He graded parts of the property as needed and added steps in sloped areas. He expertly installed an irrigation system and sod, and also mulched planting beds. I hope I have not forgotten anything. The job is not yet complete but we are close, and I swear I will miss them on a professional and personal level. We recommend John and his crew without hesitation. This is an independant review. We have no connection to John other than our connection through this project. We would hire him again in a heartbeat!"

FAQs for excavation projects in Harwich Port, MA

Depth depends on the type of installation and the regulations in your area. Water supply lines typically require 24 inches, while drainage pipes are often installed 36 inches below grade. For most general projects, a depth of 12 to 24 inches and a width of about eight inches is sufficient. Sticking to these specs keeps your utilities safe, code-compliant, and easier to maintain later.

When you need to run utilities underground, you’ve got two main options: boring or trenching. Boring employs directional drilling to install utilities without exposing a continuous channel, while trenching requires excavating an open channel to place utilities securely. Directional drilling preserves landscape integrity, whereas trenching provides direct access for installation, albeit with greater surface disruption. This clear comparison helps you select the method best suited to your project.

Plan on 12 hours to dig 100 linear feet when the soil is cooperative and you can work continuously. This timeframe applies when work is performed consistently and methodically. Factors such as rocky soil, tree roots, obstructions, and frozen ground increase the overall duration, demanding extra planning and effort. Comprehensive operational planning ensures that every challenge is managed efficiently and the project is completed on schedule.

If you want your yard to look untouched, laying fresh sod over the trench is the quickest fix. New sod needs 30 to 45 days to root and blend with the rest of your lawn. A local sod pro can provide you with a firm timeline and tips to ensure the grass takes hold and maintains your curb appeal.
