"Great job with state of the art equipment that really minimized the risk of damage to surrounding trees and shrubs. Skid steer used to remove logs and limbs was a little tough on the yard but was nothing a good rain and some grass seed won’t fix."

"The contractor arrived at my home on time but once I explained that the tuck pointing I needed done was on the top of my chimney, he explained that they did not do work that high off the ground due to Workers Comp Insurance. I thanked the gentleman for coming out and we parted company."

"Joe came to our house and did some excavating due to a build up of trees, rock and stumps. Before this work was done; We could not tell how big our backyard was. After the work was done; We could see the entire 1/2 acre backyard. Our grandkids love it!!!!! You will not be disappointed."

"Jon and his team did a wonderful job. They were efficient and courteous regarding the single land road. The removal and cleanup was great. Their consideration for our property was nice to see. We wouldn't hesitate to use them again and would recommend them without any question."

"Jimmy, Josh and their crews took a jungle of a back yard and made it beautiful. The designed and did the entire project. We have received dozens of compliments from our neighbors as well as the City Inspectors. The built the retaining wall and waterfall, did the grading and installed the complete drainage and irrigation systems. Their price was very fair and concrete began the project they stayed on the job until they finished. I would give them six stars if I could. Highly recommend them for all landscape related projects. "Building a new out building for a wood shop. The location needed some excavation back into a hill to come up with a level area large enough for the 16'x20' footprint and 6' perimeter area for the installers. The work seem to grow as we moved back into the hill; we ended up using close to 80 railroad ties to shore up the back and sides for the site.
We also decided to "bury" the power feed from an existing power pole so a change was made to the original contract. While digging the trench, came across a significant piece of "Shelby County Gold (chert!)" which posed its own challenge. Mother nature proved a bit fitful with Spring rain to really soak down the newly exposed dirt; delays were unavoidable but Heath stayed with it and we were able to get a level building site and a wire ready power conduit before the builders arrived to start construction.
All of this being said, Heath did a great job on what started as a seemingly easy request but turned out to be a more complex project with multiple challenges. We are very pleased with his work, his work ethic and attention to detail. Any future grading or excavation work will definitely be pointed in Heath's direction.

Depth depends on the type of installation and the regulations in your area. Water supply lines typically require 24 inches, while drainage pipes are often installed 36 inches below grade. For most general projects, a depth of 12 to 24 inches and a width of about eight inches is sufficient. Sticking to these specs keeps your utilities safe, code-compliant, and easier to maintain later.
When you need to run utilities underground, you’ve got two main options: boring or trenching. Boring employs directional drilling to install utilities without exposing a continuous channel, while trenching requires excavating an open channel to place utilities securely. Directional drilling preserves landscape integrity, whereas trenching provides direct access for installation, albeit with greater surface disruption. This clear comparison helps you select the method best suited to your project.
Plan on 12 hours to dig 100 linear feet when the soil is cooperative and you can work continuously. This timeframe applies when work is performed consistently and methodically. Factors such as rocky soil, tree roots, obstructions, and frozen ground increase the overall duration, demanding extra planning and effort. Comprehensive operational planning ensures that every challenge is managed efficiently and the project is completed on schedule.
If you want your yard to look untouched, laying fresh sod over the trench is the quickest fix. New sod needs 30 to 45 days to root and blend with the rest of your lawn. A local sod pro can provide you with a firm timeline and tips to ensure the grass takes hold and maintains your curb appeal.
