"He was so busy and then it rained when scheduled, so we had to wait a few weeks to get the tank removed. But 3 guys came out and did an excellent job removing our tank from a very tight spot between propane lines and electrical wiring. Backfilled and smoothed it all out so it was totally ready for grass seed. And their price was over $1000 less than our other bidder to do the work. Inside and out they pulled the line and filled in with cement and we would recommend Doug and this team 100%!"

"Fast efficient professional and very personable. Mark and his crew removed 200 gallons and cut up an underground fuel oil tank inside the foundation of my home.In a crawl space less than 40" high. Not only did they do it quickly, but there was no residual oil or smell. Look no further! Very reliable and priced fairly."

"This company was quick to respond to my need, setting up a time the very day we spoke. The service technician called when he was on his way, giving a good ETA, and was responsive and polite during our interactions. He reviewed the tight area and the job to remove two old, large fuel oil tanks from the back of the property, and then just got it done. Billing was super easy as he produced the invoice right there. I would recommend Dean's for any similar project."

"The team was prompt and very detailed, was able to pivot and suggest little changes that improved the overall look. They reconstructed a soffit and several bathroom and bedroom walls to enhance the appearance. I asked for non textured ceilings and they are flawless. Great communication throughout the job…I will rehire again in the future!!"

"Beautiful work and attention to detail on my remodel of an early 1900’s home in Cambridge. They did a unique stomp texture on the ceiling with a knockdown that resulted in a beautiful marble design. I have had a lot of compliments on this. The driveway and sidewalks were over excavated sand replaced and compacted. It has been a year now with no frost heave. Very happy with the results."

FAQs for excavation projects in Pine City, MN

Depth depends on the type of installation and the regulations in your area. Water supply lines typically require 24 inches, while drainage pipes are often installed 36 inches below grade. For most general projects, a depth of 12 to 24 inches and a width of about eight inches is sufficient. Sticking to these specs keeps your utilities safe, code-compliant, and easier to maintain later.

When you need to run utilities underground, you’ve got two main options: boring or trenching. Boring employs directional drilling to install utilities without exposing a continuous channel, while trenching requires excavating an open channel to place utilities securely. Directional drilling preserves landscape integrity, whereas trenching provides direct access for installation, albeit with greater surface disruption. This clear comparison helps you select the method best suited to your project.

Plan on 12 hours to dig 100 linear feet when the soil is cooperative and you can work continuously. This timeframe applies when work is performed consistently and methodically. Factors such as rocky soil, tree roots, obstructions, and frozen ground increase the overall duration, demanding extra planning and effort. Comprehensive operational planning ensures that every challenge is managed efficiently and the project is completed on schedule.

If you want your yard to look untouched, laying fresh sod over the trench is the quickest fix. New sod needs 30 to 45 days to root and blend with the rest of your lawn. A local sod pro can provide you with a firm timeline and tips to ensure the grass takes hold and maintains your curb appeal.
