"I called to get an appraisal and estimate for installing a french drain, and Jeremy responded that day. He arranged to come out the next day and came when he said he would. We agreed on the job and the cost. I had contacted two other companies: one didn't respond; the other never sent an estimate. On the day the job was to start, Jeremy came with the two young men (Zach 1 and Zach 2) who were to do the work. Jeremy made sure they knew what the job entailed, and the guys got started. I was impressed with the care they took with their heavy equipment to avoid a small tree and any other damage to my yard. They were so good with that equipment and knew just what they were doing! They basically finished the job in one day and came back the next to seed. They put river rock on the surface, which I love, and even made a path through my flower gardens. Jeremy stopped back by to inspect, too. I think the job looks perfect and am certain it will solve my water problem. These guys are great! I would hire them again in a minute!"

"Diggers Construction was very excellent and professional. They put in a driveway and cleared/leveled ground for my house to be put in. They worked quickly and had the job done when said it would be and they didn’t leave a mess behind. They definitely went above and beyond for me and my family."

"We called so many plumbers and one “professional” company showed up and didn’t even bring exploratory tools. We found Adkins and they showed up with an excavator and shovels ready to find the problem in this frigid cold. They gave us a quote and started working at 4pm and stayed until 8pm to find the source of the sewer leak. They gave us a plan to fix it and a full price to which we agreed and they left for the evening to get parts and return the next day to finish the job. Couldn’t ask for a better group of guys. They were fully committed to fixing the problem and they even listened to us when we told them where and what we thought it might be. (If you’re a homeowner you know how that usually goes) They were a pleasure to work with on this repair and we will be calling them back to tackle a few more building projects. I might also add they didn’t try to gouge us and charge us for a complete sewer pipe install, like the big plumbing company tried to do."

"The work was beyond expectations, not only was the grading work and drainage lines done to blend in with the overall yard. He removed and disposed of 2 tree stumps that were not in the scope of work but in the area of grading."

Depth depends on the type of installation and the regulations in your area. Water supply lines typically require 24 inches, while drainage pipes are often installed 36 inches below grade. For most general projects, a depth of 12 to 24 inches and a width of about eight inches is sufficient. Sticking to these specs keeps your utilities safe, code-compliant, and easier to maintain later.
When you need to run utilities underground, you’ve got two main options: boring or trenching. Boring employs directional drilling to install utilities without exposing a continuous channel, while trenching requires excavating an open channel to place utilities securely. Directional drilling preserves landscape integrity, whereas trenching provides direct access for installation, albeit with greater surface disruption. This clear comparison helps you select the method best suited to your project.
Plan on 12 hours to dig 100 linear feet when the soil is cooperative and you can work continuously. This timeframe applies when work is performed consistently and methodically. Factors such as rocky soil, tree roots, obstructions, and frozen ground increase the overall duration, demanding extra planning and effort. Comprehensive operational planning ensures that every challenge is managed efficiently and the project is completed on schedule.
If you want your yard to look untouched, laying fresh sod over the trench is the quickest fix. New sod needs 30 to 45 days to root and blend with the rest of your lawn. A local sod pro can provide you with a firm timeline and tips to ensure the grass takes hold and maintains your curb appeal.
