"Outstanding job fixing a crappy job by Craig's Dirt Service at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend. I would also highly recommend you stay away from Craig's Dirt Service. They are the opposite Oviedos. I would recommend Oviedos to anyone. Thanks."

"Excellent job! Mr. Hicks is very safety oriented and obviously has years of experience operating. From the excavation to the finishing touches and leveling the gravel, it could not have gone better. I will definitely be calling him again and I highly recommend him for whatever you’re needing from excavation, clearing, he even put in a new spillway and raised the water level on my pond. Thanks again sir."

"Excellent Company, Excellent Service and Very Professional! We recently purchased a few acres and hired Mr. Scott to clear the land. His work was absolutely amazing and the final product far exceeded what we expected. We were always provided updates on the status of the project and he even worked on weekends to complete the clearing. We researched several other contractors for the project and Brushwacker Land Svs, by far, had excellent prices for clearing the land, grinding/removing stumps, and even completing a temporary driveway for our new home construction. We will definitely hire him in the future for landscaping projects. Brushwacker Land Services is a must!!"

"Called them to set up an initial meeting time and they told me they would get back to me later that day to arrange the day and time. They called me back as promised and we met up the next day as scheduled. Perry was already on site before I had gotten there. We walked through the project and agreed on the price. He came out the next day and got everything cleaned up that day as promised. Fantastic job, would use them again in a heartbeat."

FAQs for excavation projects in Tyler, TX

Depth depends on the type of installation and the regulations in your area. Water supply lines typically require 24 inches, while drainage pipes are often installed 36 inches below grade. For most general projects, a depth of 12 to 24 inches and a width of about eight inches is sufficient. Sticking to these specs keeps your utilities safe, code-compliant, and easier to maintain later.

When you need to run utilities underground, you’ve got two main options: boring or trenching. Boring employs directional drilling to install utilities without exposing a continuous channel, while trenching requires excavating an open channel to place utilities securely. Directional drilling preserves landscape integrity, whereas trenching provides direct access for installation, albeit with greater surface disruption. This clear comparison helps you select the method best suited to your project.

Plan on 12 hours to dig 100 linear feet when the soil is cooperative and you can work continuously. This timeframe applies when work is performed consistently and methodically. Factors such as rocky soil, tree roots, obstructions, and frozen ground increase the overall duration, demanding extra planning and effort. Comprehensive operational planning ensures that every challenge is managed efficiently and the project is completed on schedule.

If you want your yard to look untouched, laying fresh sod over the trench is the quickest fix. New sod needs 30 to 45 days to root and blend with the rest of your lawn. A local sod pro can provide you with a firm timeline and tips to ensure the grass takes hold and maintains your curb appeal.
