Small jobs welcome

"We were contacted first by NC Landscape and Waterproof. They were very thoughtful and understanding of our project and offered to do more than we originally planned but their explanation made complete sense and we are glad we had them do our full planting job instead of just the excavation. We will certainly be working with them again!"

"I had a great experience Green Rhino. My downspouts are connected to drainpipes that empty into my yard. Problem was the company who installed them did not put them in a good location. Earl came by and knew exactly what to do and where the underground drainage pipes should come out at. His crew came out and did fantastic work and were very polite. They cut the sod in sections and dug 2 trenches through my yard towards the street. After laying the drainage pipes and installing pop up drains they backfilled and put the sod back down where it came from. If you didnâ t know they dug a trench through my yard you would never notice. I will definitely use Earl and his crew if I need any other work done."

"It was a small project but they did very well installing the garden wall blocks on the hilly side of my home and did an excellent job of adding topsoil, installing landscape fabric and the red lava rocks. They were professionals and did a very nice job of making sure my home's driveway, sidewalk and road in front of my front yard were spotless when they were done."

"Gerado is enthusiastic about his work. He and his crew are dedicated and hard workers. He assured me on the day he came to give me a quote that he would remain on the site until I was completely satisfied with all of the projects he was asked to do. There was grading, topsoil and fill dirt placement, drainage swale construction, mulching, and more. They truly excel at soil placement and fine grading. They finished with hand raking the areas of any small debris so that the final product was blemish free and beautiful. They cleaned up behind each project leaving behind only one shovel and a satisfied customer. Yes, I will hire him for the next phase of our landscaping project."

"Extremely good to work with, did an excellent drive building my driveway graded for correct slope and sheds water like it should, had them level and grade out for my pole barn build as well. 100% will use again. And might I add the response was much quicker than any other contractor I had quote the job."

FAQs for excavation projects in Youngsville, NC

Depth depends on the type of installation and the regulations in your area. Water supply lines typically require 24 inches, while drainage pipes are often installed 36 inches below grade. For most general projects, a depth of 12 to 24 inches and a width of about eight inches is sufficient. Sticking to these specs keeps your utilities safe, code-compliant, and easier to maintain later.

When you need to run utilities underground, you’ve got two main options: boring or trenching. Boring employs directional drilling to install utilities without exposing a continuous channel, while trenching requires excavating an open channel to place utilities securely. Directional drilling preserves landscape integrity, whereas trenching provides direct access for installation, albeit with greater surface disruption. This clear comparison helps you select the method best suited to your project.

Plan on 12 hours to dig 100 linear feet when the soil is cooperative and you can work continuously. This timeframe applies when work is performed consistently and methodically. Factors such as rocky soil, tree roots, obstructions, and frozen ground increase the overall duration, demanding extra planning and effort. Comprehensive operational planning ensures that every challenge is managed efficiently and the project is completed on schedule.

If you want your yard to look untouched, laying fresh sod over the trench is the quickest fix. New sod needs 30 to 45 days to root and blend with the rest of your lawn. A local sod pro can provide you with a firm timeline and tips to ensure the grass takes hold and maintains your curb appeal.
