"Yes he showed up half an hour early, and was very knowledgeable. And very careful not to get soot all over the place while he was cleaning our fireplace. He repaired the box in the fireplace quickly and efficiently. We also took him to the neighbors and he cleaned their fireplace. Very happy with them I would recommend him again."

"The one item that led to a lowered "customer service" rating was that I had to make a follow-up call to see if they were still planning to do the job (Or not). Once that was out of the way, it was fairly smooth sailing. In terms of price, I don't know what the cost of a typical stove repair might be, so it's hard for me to say whether my cost was good or average."

"Young's Chimney service was great.  He inspected fireplace and told me it didn't need to be swept.  He could have done it and charged me but he didn't.  He did only what was needed and gave me great advice on using my fireplace. He was professional, had the job done quickly and saved my firebox and chimney by installing chimney cap.  Also, did mortar repair on chimney to avoid water intrusion.

I would recommend Young's to anyone as he is CSIA certified and really knows what he is talking about.  He won't sell you anything you don't need.

"Received 3 bids from Angie's List companies, selected this one for best price.  Gave a $100 discount when asked if they had any specials for Angie's List members.  Contracted for work in April 2016 and work performed week of June 8, 2016 (lapse in time due to our request).  Cost included permits/inspections. Responded to my phone calls with questions prior to start of work.  Contract provided for additional charges if damage became known after removal of original roof.  "Extra" charge was just $60 for replacement of some wood (included in total price of $7,010).  Work completed in 2 days as was projected.  Punctual and cleaned up well at end of job. "

"CFS sent out a crew, a day earlier than expected...a giant plus. The 2 man crew (it was a small project), arrived and explained what they would be doing and then went straight to work. After completion of the work, the crew cleaned up the worksite area and then explained again what they had done, how long to let it cure before painting and even suggested a quality paint. Cleaning up afterwards is a giant plus. The 2 man crew were friendly, polite and professional and down to earth with their explanations. The final plus with Central Florida Stucco was that they gave me a military discount."

"I don't really think that they performed the service that was advertised.  My Mom was there for me since I hadn't yet moved to our new home and I wanted to see how our attic insulation was and to see if there were any leaks that would make our air conditioning less effective.  Well, as it turns out, they didn't use a thermal camera to scan anything and all it turned out to be was an estimate to sell us a radiant barrier insulation. He offered me what I thought was a fair price for the insulation and even offered me a military discount.  He was a very nice person and I appreciate the offer, but that's not really what I thought I was getting.  I mean, if I wanted an estimate for radiant barrier insulation, shouldn't I be able to get that without having to pay $60?  I thought the service I was getting would be to check with a thermal camera to see if we had any air conditioning leaks (that's what the advertised deal was).  My Mom's husband was there also and he watched fairly closely what he was doing and never saw any equipment besides his flashlight that he took up there.  I also thought that the attic energy evaluation part would be to see if we needed to bump up the R-value of our ceiling insulation.  He mentioned that we may need a little bit more but no specific mention of the cost or amount was really mentioned.  Again, the focus was on the radiant barrier insulation he wanted to sell me.

FAQs for fireplace and wood stove service projects in Barberville, FL

Start with a professional inspection. If damage is limited to a few bricks or the crown, a targeted repair helps keep costs and disruption to a minimum. Severe leaning, widespread mortar failure, or major fire damage usually signals it’s time for a complete teardown and rebuild. Your contractor will outline both price tags, but remember that rebuilding a failing stack is often cheaper than repeated patch jobs and the water leaks or fire hazards they allow.

Cracks provide water with an easy path into the masonry, weakening the bricks and mortar and increasing the risk of collapse or fire. Gaps can also let hot gases and sparks escape into attic spaces. Call a chimney pro as soon as you see cracking so they can seal small joints or recommend a larger rebuild before minor damage turns into a costly emergency.

Smoke rolling back into the room often indicates a blocked flue, a broken damper, or a drafting issue. Have a sweep inspect the damper, flue liner, and any obstructions right away. Most fixes involve clearing debris, repairing the liner, or adjusting the damper so the fireplace pulls air correctly. Don’t light another fire until a professional pinpoints the cause and confirms your system is venting safely.

Most policies cover chimney repairs caused by a sudden, covered event, such as lightning, a fallen tree, or a house fire. They won’t cover damage that stems from neglected maintenance or everyday wear. Review your policy or contact your agent before scheduling work to determine what documentation your insurer requires and what costs you will be responsible for.

Component life spans vary. Clay tile or cast-in-place liners last close to 50 years, while stainless-steel liners last 15 to 20 years. Mortar requires attention every 25 to 30 years, while crowns last 50 to 75 years. Use these numbers as a maintenance roadmap: schedule regular inspections, budget for future upgrades, and replace parts before age-related cracks develop into more significant problems.
