"Duran removed my old gas fireplace, ran a new 6-inch insulated liner down the chimney, (which was not easy, the flue needed to be opened up a bit in certain spots). He rebuilt and repointed my upper chimney, waterproofed it, and installed an amazing new wood burning fireplace, that we are loving! He came out to the house, estimated the job for free. His price was thousands less than the competitors (others charged $250 just to come out and estimate) Duran was professional, honest, clean, hardworking and affordable. If you're getting chimney work done, you are crazy if you don't call this guy. I highly recommend. R"

"We like them very much. We’re very impressed. A year ago, he had a lot of other work to do at that time and I said it was fine. I didn’t want it to done until the spring. I was burning wood at that time when I first got in touch with him so it would have been inconvenient to take the chimney out of the operation when I was using it. The owner is very pleasant. We had a nice talk. He’s easy to talk to. He had all the equipments he needed to put the scaffolding up so that everything was done in a very safe operation. When they were done, they did an excellent job of cleaning up and they’re done in a day. Their work was fine. I don’t expect any more trouble with it for the next ten years. I was very satisfied with their price. We had a little trouble communicating with them but it was minor."

Some cities, like New York City, ban wood-burning fireplaces altogether. In places like Colorado and the California Bay Area, laws dictate when you can use your wood-burning fireplace based on air quality. Since regulations vary by location, it's best to consult a local contractor familiar with your area's laws. You can also check the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) website for state ordinances and regulations.
Yes, you can add a fireplace to your existing home, but it requires careful planning and professional evaluation. You'll need to construct a safe chimney, ensure proper ventilation, and comply with local building codes and HOA regulations. This project involves significant structural modifications and specialized labor, so hiring a qualified fireplace contractor is essential to ensure safety and code compliance.
Fireplaces enhance a home's value because they create a warm and inviting atmosphere while adding a distinctive architectural feature. A fireplace not only elevates a residence’s appeal but also contributes to greater market value. Industry research confirms that homes with fireplaces command higher sale prices, and homeowners benefit from an improved living environment.
Yes, installing a fireplace increases your home insurance costs because it raises the risk of fire and may require additional coverage. A fireplace demands dedicated safety inspections and documented maintenance, and insurers enforce stricter requirements, which drive higher premiums. Homeowners must consult their insurance providers and adhere to regular inspection schedules to manage these increased costs.
